scripture in christianity, judaism and islam

Scripture in christianity, judaism and islam. Tuesday, December 13, 2005. I have been studying for the final and I figured this would be the best time to write my final blog, while all the information was somewhat fresh in my mind. It has been really interesting learning about these three different religions. They are so similar and yet very different. The most interesting difference is how they treat their scriptures and how they interpret them to keep them relevant in a modern day context. I didn't rea...

scripture in christianity, judaism and islam: November 2005

http://www.wheatonmareligion204bolf.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Scripture in christianity, judaism and islam. Monday, November 28, 2005. When I told people that I was going to a biblical art museum they were all surprised that such a thing existed; and I have to admit so was I. I wasn't really sure what to expect. I pictured a lot of decorated and illustrated bibles and I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. Posted by bleonard at 2:40 PM. View my complete profile. Different expressions of faith. scripture in christianity, judaism and islam: different expressions of faith

http://www.wheatonmareligion204bolf.blogspot.com/2005/12/different-expressions-of-faith.html

Scripture in christianity, judaism and islam. Friday, December 02, 2005. Different expressions of faith. Posted by bleonard at 12:57 PM. I think your point is an important one. Everyone can experience faith in a different way, yet each method of faith attempts to accomplish the same goal. I also think we have seen that some group faith experiences do not have a moving effect on the individual. Why do you think this is? Probably not but still its something I have been thinking about.

scripture in christianity, judaism and islam: lectio divina

http://www.wheatonmareligion204bolf.blogspot.com/2005/12/lectio-divina.html

Scripture in christianity, judaism and islam. Wednesday, December 07, 2005. Posted by bleonard at 2:43 PM. I think you make a good point about how secular books/art/music can speak to someone in a spiritual way. I feel that if you come from a certain faith and believe in a higher being, then that faith should pour out from any aspect of life, whether in church or at a baseball game. Part of having faith is believing that God is in everything and is everywhere. View my complete profile.

scripture in christianity, judaism and islam: interpretation of torah

http://www.wheatonmareligion204bolf.blogspot.com/2005/09/interpretation-of-torah.html

Scripture in christianity, judaism and islam. Thursday, September 15, 2005. It seems to me that Torah can mean law, ritual, instruction, and narrative. The readings from both Leviticus and Genesis give instructions somehow on the way to live and to practice rituals and this seems to be done through some type of narrative. The readings from Genesis are more like a story with characters and action while the readings in Leviticus are more just the passing down of God's laws to His people. That "space" for i...

Inner Thoughts

Wednesday, December 07, 2005. Genuine Community IS Possible. I have really enjoyed reading what everyone has had to say and think that everyone has said some very important and intellectual things. I have enjoyed commenting on your blogs and generating this religious discussion. I'm a little sad to be ending this course now. I hope that we will continue to discuss and think about the things we have learned. Posted by Aidan Kelley at 10:52 PM. I am reminded of the living nightmare that is middle school.

Lauren's Perspective

Saturday, December 17, 2005. During the last week of classes, everyone woke up early to go to our local church, on campus, and hear each other's sermons. It actually felt like we were the priest. We had the opportunity not only to see what it would be like to be in the shoes of a priest, but also to write a sermon. How should I state something in my sermon that will have an effect? These were probably common questions that the class kept in mind while writing their sermons. Overall, it was fun listen...
