Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I've been so busy the last couple of weeks and it is no different today. plus I am ridiculous tired today. We switched to the new 5AM start time this week, and it just happens to be the same week that I need to do all of my vacation prep work. El Fishawy and Downtown Alleys. In alley one block west of Midan Hussein is an Ahwa (cafe) called el Fishawy as denoted by the sign above. It's supposedly been open continuously for over 200 years. The walls are hung with huge mirrors, archaic chandeliers, a leather stuffed alligator, and black and white photos from the 30’s and 40’s doting famous Egyptian artists and pseudo intellectuals.
