The Long Distance Lawyer. Lawyering, running, blogging. April 24, 2015. I Beat Ivanka and Got the Door Slammed in My Face. There were a few things that were different this year that could explain it. So I changed tradition and had this carton of coconut water on race morning instead. If you can’t handle gross medical details do yourself a favor and skip your eyes down until you see END TMI. In Stamford. Hands down the best vet we’ve had here. She is scheduled for surgery next week. To get the coworker to...

That looks kind of like a cat walked across the keyboard doesn’t it? On the left is a programming language called HTML and on the right is CSS. When you open the HTML file in a browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.) the browser translates the cat scratch into a website. The website built on that code displays as appears below. I’ve written before. The schedu...

Computer Engineer Barbie | The Long Distance Lawyer

The Long Distance Lawyer. Lawyering, running, blogging. November 18, 2014. Around a month ago I began the mental equivalent of a marathon. Something cool that I had wanted to do for a couple of years. I hadn’t planned to blog about it because it’s not running or lawyering. And that is what this blog is about right? That changed when I read THIS. Ridiculousness. There is justified profanity in the linked blog. 8221; ‘”I guess I can be a computer engineer! 8221; says Barbie happily.’. The only skills Barbi...

The Long Distance Lawyer. Lawyering, running, blogging. December 14, 2014. Last Day in London. We decided to go the airbnb. This is John and I. Now that I look at this picture it kind of looks to me like we might be related. After saying hello to Henry Kevin and I left for Fitness First. Here is the cat that ate the canary and the trainers. After the gym we grabbed breakfast at The Shepherdess Cafe. Ham and Cheese baguette and a juice. Kevin’s curry lid is behind it. But it was impossible to hear them be...

Software patents are… | The Long Distance Lawyer
http://longdistancelawyer.us/2014/04/software-patents-are
The Long Distance Lawyer. Lawyering, running, blogging. April 14, 2014. Software patents are…. I do not think the ruling will go that far and at most they will invalidate the patents without providing a test, or at least a helpful test, to determine what computer implemented inventions are patent eligible. That would leave us with the same gray area we’ve had since 1972. All of these proposed regulations are aimed at reducing the damage done by patents, primarily software patents. But (Please note: I...

The Long Distance Lawyer. Lawyering, running, blogging. June 8, 2015. MIP’s International Leadership Women’s Forum & Thoughts on Anti-NPE Movement. I was lucky enough to be invited to participate in a panel on anti-NPE regulation at an International Leadership Women’s Forum in NYC. The event was put on by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP). In English, this means I was asked if I wanted to talk about legislation designed to curb patent trolls. Don’t have to ask me twice! The only item on the agenda.

My licensing journey in Alabama, Connecticut, and New York | The Long Distance Lawyer

The Long Distance Lawyer. Lawyering, running, blogging. July 9, 2015. My licensing journey in Alabama, Connecticut, and New York. I am licensed in a trio of states. In order to avoid taking bar examinations I sought admission based on reciprocity in Connecticut and New York. It was kind of an interesting journey and there are some unique differences between the states that I’ve been meaning to write out for my attorney buddies, so here it is. All states I’ve been licensed in require that you stay c...
