OUT THE WINDOW...

Monday, February 19, 2007. I was under the impression that this little festival was for Setsubun. But I asked a teacher of mine and she was totally positive it went by the name of Mamemaki Taikai. So that's what we'll call it. There's a really good chance this event goes by both names. Between my horrible japanese and their somewhat-okay english is where the name Mamemaki Taikai comes from so I hope I'm not misinforming you. Monday, October 30, 2006. Wednesday, September 13, 2006. OUT THE WINDOW...: January 2006

http://whereamiwhereami.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, January 15, 2006. Oh, the trip I've had. I cannot tell you what an amazing trip I had. The locals, food, sights, and traveling companions were all completely wonderful. We started off on December 26th at 4:50am. We drove to Narita airport and boarded our plane to Bangkok Thailand. We saw temples and shrines and ate great food. Went shopping and had traditional Thai massages. It was glorious. Here are some pics from that portion of my trip. This is at one of the temples we visited. This is basical...

My Two Yen Worth: August 2005

http://my2yen.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html

My Two Yen Worth. Monday, August 29, 2005. This is long (if you need to use the restroom, go now). I'm even using small font for this one. Here are a few things uniquely Japanese my family experienced:. Land of Bling Bling. My family thought Japan would be all skyscrapers and people. While Japan is like half of America living in California, only 12% of the land is actually urban (if my memory serves me correctly). The cities are PACKED, but there is still plenty of incredibly scenic countryside. Jordan k...

http://my2yen.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

My Two Yen Worth. Sunday, May 21, 2006. Is one of my favorite blogs: this blogger really tells it like it happens. The other day I would go ahead and write a personal diary and keep track of the events of an ordinary school day as it happens. I brought some old Valentine’s Day candy hearts with the little love phrases on them that my mom had sent me and hadn’t eaten yet. I thought I’d give the teachers a cultural experience since I get them everyday. They had the same reaction as I do to seaweed&...I had...

My Two Yen Worth. Tuesday, January 10, 2006. A New Love Affair. Everyone dreams of finding their true love at first sight. I, personally, have found three. Is that ok in non-Old Testament times? I don't know if they were just exotic short-term romances or the real deal. But these loves don't discriminate against each other so I won't either. 1 Must be full of adventure, spontaneous and always ready to show a good time. 3 Must be naturally beautiful without too much exterior work done. A few days before in the teacher's room she'd asked me what shoe size I wear. I told her 30 cm. That's American size 12 - not so huge is it? How can a ski resort rental shop not have size 12 boots? I don't care how small the Japanese feet are! They skied and I snowboarded together all day and had a great time. On the way home we stopped ...

I have a great way to procrastinate. Not bad, I've actually learned to enjoy it somewhat. The worst sushi is salmon egg sushi which is bitter with a texture similar to biting a paint ball, while my favorite is tobiuo (flying fish sushi). It's light and sweet almost so much so you only taste the rice. 7 Sea Urchin (Uni).
