Where's Jill?: September 2006
http://whereisjill.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
A place to update my friends, family, and stalkers on where I am, what I'm doing there, and why. It's Always Sunny in Bergen! Ok, maybe not, but at least it was the weekend I was there! After a few stops along the Aurlandsfjord, we turned down the Nærøyfjord, the fjord I went down last year with my friends from home. This year the weather was GORGEOUS and not cold at all! It was so crazy! Here I was on a fjord cruise drinking waterfall water in the middle of September! Next day we wandered around Bergen ...

A place to update my friends, family, and stalkers on where I am, what I'm doing there, and why. It HURTS to be American. For a couple of weeks now, I've been participating in a diet challenge with my Florida friends. And although I no longer have TSE as a goal, the gym is the ONLY place I get to watch TV. For the past 2 weeks (or to practice speaking. And while some of my friends are suffering from post-Olympic blues. I have found TV salvation in the form of the Democratic National Convention. I burnt o...

A place to update my friends, family, and stalkers on where I am, what I'm doing there, and why. The longest 5 to 14 weeks ever! After waiting 4 months, 18 weeks, or 129 very long days, I FINALLY got a decision on my HSMP visa. Not that I've been anxiously waiting and counting the days. That and the HO is open from like 9 to 4 (which is 1 am to 8 am for me); totally not convenient. I am very, very excited. Posted by Jill Fosness. Neither, Respiratory Infection. Best she could surmise it was an "allergic ...

A place to update my friends, family, and stalkers on where I am, what I'm doing there, and why. But I'm NOT a morning person! For the second day in a row, Ben and I woke up before dawn. Since I'm not a morning person, I'm chalking this trend up to our internal clocks still being a bit off. But since we woke up at 4:30 am, we decided to walk down to the breakwater ( Nobbys Head. Back in the car, we continued our journey north to Port Macquarie. I smile each and every time I see the word Macquarie on ...

Minus the Silencer: The Best SciFi on Television
http://minusthesilencer.blogspot.com/2008/02/best-scifi-on-television.html
Friday, February 29, 2008. The Best SciFi on Television. Having spent my formative years during a time when Star Trek had multiple shows running, my view of scifi was significantly influenced by it. For me, the future was supposed to be filled with humans and aliens working side by side while computers would take care of all the mundane paperwork. In fact, I can't recall seeing a single sheet of paper in any of the post Star Trek: TNG shows. On a leap of faith, I asked for season one. Follow me on Twitter.

Friday, June 29, 2007. Looking at a map of the T. Our first stop in Boston was the Samuel Adams. The morning started off at Boston Common. A public park of 44 acres set aside by the original Puritan founders. Our tour started from this central location and followed what's called the Freedom Trail. Our next stop was the Langham hotel. Early evening saw us wandering the Harvard. It was quite a bit smaller but their penguin exhibit was worth the visit alone. A native of the area. Established by a man na...
Minus the Silencer: A trip to New York with the Brazilians
http://minusthesilencer.blogspot.com/2008/01/trip-to-new-york-with-brazilians.html
Friday, January 25, 2008. A trip to New York with the Brazilians. Early last week I received an urgent message from my Brazilian buddy Tony imploring me to come to New York for the weekend to hang out with him and his brother Beto who had been working there for the previous six months and wanted to spend his remaining weekend there partying. At first I protested but by Wednesday I'd gone ahead and purchased a ticket for myself on the very convenient Chinatown bus. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Minus the Silencer: Democracy
http://minusthesilencer.blogspot.com/2007/08/democracy.html
Saturday, August 11, 2007. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, Democracy. Spans the years from 1969 to 1974 and tells the tale of two Germanies, East and West, locked together in idealogical battle for the soul of their country. Willy Brandt. The East Germans were of course apprehensive of this move but fortunately for them their spy service, the Stasi. Answering to two masters, Günter began to feel increasingly torn as his relationship with the Chancellor grew. He wanted to satisfy his Stasi b...

Friday, August 15, 2008. I immediately jumped at the opportunity. The Anfiteatro Flavio and Capri. These highlights in addition to the wonderful Neopolitan shellfish-based dishes that seemed to be offered at every restaurant in the area made for an amazing time. With flavors we liked, then we'd stop and get some ice cream. What with its creamy texture and amazing flavor, Italian gelato is far superior to anything that can be found Stateside. Sunday, December 09, 2007. Where do I begin? I've had a lot of great ideas for blog entries these past few months but finding the time to enter them has been difficult to say the least. So I guess we'll start with the thing that has been eating up the majority of my time: work. Two months ago things were going swimmingly well and then out of the blue came what is known in the industry as a strategic restructuring, a layoff. To our collective technology-oriented blog, one which happened to pertain to a pr...

Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Despite the early departure time from Washington, D.C. we arrived in San Diego fairly awake and ready to get on with our vacation. First time was Milton's, a wonderful Kosher deli and restaurant located in Del Mar. Over the past few years it has become my unofficial welcoming pad, the first place I stop at to address the hunger pangs a six hour flight induces. Between my previous visit in December and now, my parents got what I thought they never would: a dog! Built in an o...

Jason's Travel Blog
Thought I would set up a blog so that my family and friends can keep up to date with where I am at and what I am doing with myself these days. Enjoy! Tuesday, January 23, 2007. The NBA - "I Love this Game! Well thanks to Amy, I was fortunate to be able to watch the Seattle Supersonics vs the Utah Jazz, down in Seattle! As soon as we arrived at Key Arena the atmosphere was PUMPING! Anyways I just have to say that the game was AWESOME! And Ray Allen scored a career high 54 points! Posted by Jason @ 7:21 AM.

A place to update my friends, family, and stalkers on where I am, what I'm doing there, and why. Introduced us to a British TV show called Gavin and Stacey. I'll admit that a good deal of the jokes go straight over my head, but I do get enough of them that I am hooked on this show- HILARIOUS. For anyone who hasn't seen it:. And available on iTunes.). The point of giving Gavin and Stacey background? Ben and I woke up this Valentine's Day with nothing to do. With plans like that, we went a bit crazy an...

I currently reside on the Berkeley and Oakland border and it is so beautiful here. Perfect weather, friendly and intelligent people, lots of things going on.
