Newer posts →. Acclimatization at 3,440m. Getting excited about base camp as we look the mountain ranges at the museum. The weather was finicky again so we missed another chance to see Everest. We had a leisurely afternoon willing our laundry to dry and reading on our balcony while listening to the rhythmic rock cracking from the locals. The lack of oxygen slowly started to mess with our heads and we blamed everything on it…sock not drying? Not enough oxygen in air! No, it can’t be! Posted in Mt. Eve...

Acclimatization at 4,440m →. We started to see impressive mountain peaks, yaks, and other exciting sights such as this fallen, crumpled bridge that did wonders to instill our faith for a safe passage to over 5,000m. And it’s temporary replacement looked so sturdy…. Pit stop for lunch where I had the most delicious vegetable pizza (mostly carrots) on Tibetan bread…our standards for good food was really deteriorating by day 5! It was Barry’s birthday that day so we celebrated with cake and wrapped up...

Acclimatization at 3,440m. Day 4 in the mountains was another long 7 hour trek that started out misty and had me fearing the rain in the morning. After a 200m hike up over Namche, we had a magnificent view of the valley down below. See that small bridge down below? It’s the Hillary Bridge that we dreaded looking up at just 2 days ago! We started to see peaks of mountains behind the clouds along this route, I was really astounded by my first glimpse as Sudip pointed to the peak over yonder…where? For dinn...

Acclimatization at 4,440m. The real fun (misery) starts now! Day 7 of the trek started out business as usual as we approached 5,000m, but things started to crack at the end of the 7th hour. Today was a gradual trek up hill and the terrain turns into more rugged, rocky mountains with our 500m gain. A clear, brisk sky with the best view of the mountains and valleys to-date. Looking back at these photos, it was quite a stunning day, although I didn’t appreciate it as much during the trek. So close for disas...

After Nepal and our 2 week miserable and magical trek to Everest, Ula and I stopped over in Hong Kong for a brief one week respite before heading home for good. For 5 days, we basked in the glory of being inspired, content and thankful for lifelong friends, freedom to travel, clean sheets and tap water you can brush your teeth with 🙂. We even explored the quirky side of the city, jumping on the “Free HK” bandwagon of mind games to escape out of a locked game.

Where is Zach?

Seriously.where is he? Sunday, May 29, 2011. Water, Water Everywhere. The other night, my buddy Jon called me up asking to be a sound board for him while he hashed out some ideas. Always looking forward to hanging out with him, I readily agreed. We spent a good couple of hours driving around south Utah County just talking, laughing and having a grand ol’ time. Now Jon’s in-laws live in a fairly nice neighborhood. I knew where their house was because Jon had pointed it out to me on a few occasio...So I fo...

Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Nepal: An outdoor enthusiasts paradise. I was planning on spending three weeks trekking the Anapurna region. The route that i took was 120 miles and in stead of taking my time I pushed myself and finished in 9 days instead of. The usual 16-18 days. My longest day was 27 miles, and it was a long. After another week of rest, m. Even though I severely bbruised my knees. The views were gorgeous, my team was really energetic, and our crazy guide was bent on smashing into and up on...
