gap years are wasted on the young

Gap years are wasted on the young. Wednesday, March 21, 2012. I'm off again, but not here! Given that I have some devoted followers on the other blog now, I'm going to keep all my writing over there. Even when I'm travelling. You should take this one down, I hear you say. (Well, I don't actually hear you, but you know what I mean.) But it is the blog from my long trip, and the few passing strangers might just be curious about things places I've visited in the past. You'll be very welcome. From California...

gap years are wasted on the young: December 2006

http://whereivegone.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Gap years are wasted on the young. Friday, December 29, 2006. Two weeks in Pokhara. After travelling for more than two months, I was ready to pause for a while. And I couldn't have chosen a better place, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, sitting by a lake that drifts from green to blue to pink as the light changes . . How old is she? They asked, nodding in my direction. Seventy,' Tika explained. Posted by JO at 11:22 PM. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. Then the journey to Kathmandu - from Auckland...

http://whereivegone.blogspot.com/2011/03/west-to-america.html

Gap years are wasted on the young. Monday, March 07, 2011. West, to America. I elected to bypass the guided information and just wander around the galleries, pausing at anything that caught my eye. I remain ignorant of the significance of any of it, but simply enjoyed it for itself. It worked for me. Posted by JO at 9:40 AM. Sounds amazing, as always! Hope youre making friends with your sensible suitcase.Love Polly. Sounds a fantastic trip already! Been to Monterey and San Diego, so re-enjoying by proxy!

gap years are wasted on the young: February 2007

http://whereivegone.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Gap years are wasted on the young. Tuesday, February 27, 2007. I finally tore myself away from the shores of Goa, heading for Kerala. So many people had told me how beautiful it is; I decided it was time to see for myself. I began in Kochi. Accommodation had been organised by an agency in Mumbai. Who did everything else. We made an unlikely trio. I made a dreadful Memsahib. I soon learned that, if I were to pick my own napkin up from the floor it implied that Chanbran. Oil, the sudden pungency of ginger ...

gap years are wasted on the young: South, to Big Sur

http://whereivegone.blogspot.com/2011/03/south-to-big-sur.html

Gap years are wasted on the young. Thursday, March 17, 2011. South, to Big Sur. My departure from Santa Cruz was delayed for a couple of hours by a tsumani warning America’s aftermath of the horrors in Japan.  But it was soon evident that California would experience nothing more alarming than a high tide; and so I was on my way. I spent three days here, in a scruffy motel hidden among the trees, where the menu extended to burgers and chips and coffee came in polystyrene cups.  I forgave it every...I foll...

Gap years are wasted on the young. Monday, May 21, 2007. Into the jungle and beyond. Into the jungle, and beyond. From there to the tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands. Where I've Ben

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Galley Head Lighthouse, Clonakilty, Cork, Ireland. We had visited the Galley Head Lighthouse previously. When I got home and researched it I discovered that the lightkeeper's house could be rented from the Irish Landmark Trust. When I heard back from them, Ger Butler, the manager for Unit 2, responded that he would handle the checkin for both units and to just call him when we arrived in Clonakilty. We were 15 minutes later than we expected but he was there to welcome us.

A fine WordPress.com site. When people come into town we love to take them to Snooze. They have a few interesting Benedicts as you can see from the menu photo. I stuck with a favorite Chiliquiles Bene. Decided not to branch out because I like this one so much. Instead of English muffins they use stacked tortillas as the base. Super yummy. You can also mix and match Benes here, so much fun! July 26, 2015. Breakfast Club Scottsdale 7/13/15. July 15, 2015. July 12, 2015. The ham was thin sliced and quite sa...

The Vent

Not another stupid political blog! Tuesday, June 5, 2007. I'm sitting here watching the movie, "An Inconvenient Truth", and thinking about things as the night goes by. I guess I'm late when it comes to this movie and the issue of global warming, but hey, better late than never. And as I'm watching this movie, I'm looking up random shit on the internet about this issue, and I'm finding out interesting things. like how ExxonMobil has been funding a whole bunch of different global warming skeptics. What is ...
