Where Ocean and Mountains Collide: June 2010

http://whereoceanandmountainscollide.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Where Ocean and Mountains Collide. Sheep Mtn Guides - Pic Grab. Sunday, June 27, 2010. 2 Temp is important and if you don't have a temp controlled griddle (should be 375F) it takes some tinkering. It should take about 3-4 mins on the first side. Large bubbles form in the cake and the edges start to dry out just a little bit, but it shouldn't be too dark. Flip gently and cook for about a minute more. 1 cup of (butter)milk. 1 cup of flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. This morning we...

Where Ocean and Mountains Collide. Sheep Mtn Guides - Pic Grab. Monday, August 30, 2010. Camping and stream fishing. Hillary and myself (and Stout) met up with Sam and Christina Friday afternoon out at Cowee Creek for some Coho fishing and camping. Hillary ended up limiting out with two, while I broke one off before we lost two of the magic lures and could no longer get any to bite. Fightin' the silver in Cowee (it is a little cloudy due to the small glacial influence upstream). Fisherlady with her catch.

http://jackieandpatalaska.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Jackie and Pat's Alaska. Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Icefield Adventures, meet Matilda and start to the fishing/boat season. It has been a busy past couple of months, including stretches of incredible weather. The month of May was almost entirely sunny, with temperatures nearing 75 on a daily basis. Juneau was actually happy to have a week off from sun to re-hydrate everything and give folks a chance to catch up on house work and laundry. Nobody does chores when it is sunny in the mountains! We also flew o...

http://jackieandpatalaska.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Jackie and Pat's Alaska. Monday, July 8, 2013. Again, we had 85 plus degree weather and sunny, blue skies, making it a hot trip! Bagging up herring for crab bait before the trip. Four Mountain bikes loaded up for the trip- plenty of space! The Eight Fathom Bight cabin. It was built by Icy Straights in Hoonah and barged to the site. It is by far the nicest Forest Service cabin out there, and almost as big as our house! This is Jackie attempting to avoid her face getting eaten. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

Following a week of single digit temperatures, the lake finally froze solid and fresh snow dropped Friday night. After 5 hours of powder skiing at the mountain, we decided to head out to the glacier and give Barley some exercise. Fresh powder nordic skiing. Afternoon sun shining on the glacier. http://jackieandpatalaska.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Jackie and Pat's Alaska. Thursday, January 20, 2011. The weather has changed now in Juneau. The winds have died down and the snow has started falling. Last night the forecast called for 5-10" of snow. I would say we got close to 16" of snow. The picture below is our Weber grill when we went to bed last night. Before this storm there was no snow on the grill or on the ground around the grill. Yesterday we went for a walk on the Steep Creek trails at the Mendenhall Glacier. Here are some pictures. Still wi...
