Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Jasper National Park 2.0. On Sunday morning, we got an even earlier start as we had tickets for the Jasper Tramway at 9am. Wildlife was abundant as we travelled through the park. We saw about seven deer, two elk, and some more sheep. Most of them were quite close to the road, which provided for some excellent photo opportunities. And we had all day, the last tram was at 8:30pm. so why not! Friday, January 27, 2012. Monday, May 30, 2011. Four Seasons Maui at Wailea. We stayed at the Maui Seaside Hotel for the first night, which was straight out of the 1980s, but it was very clean and the pool and beach were nice for our first day of summer temperatures in a year! Sunday, June 26, 2011. Snow in the second week of June- gross! We've since recovered, with temperatures near 30 degrees again, which we would have thought to be extremely rare before moving here. It seems as though each summer we get two weeks of "hot" days, even if they are not consecutive. The ice left the harbour on June 18th, so we now have open water for boating and swimming and fishing. Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Oh how your perspective changes. I literally laughed out loud at lunch today when I heard on the news that Toronto has issued an extreme cold weather alert. Apparently the temperatures might drop to -12C tonight. I laughed because today it is -43C with the wind chill, -32C without. Tomorrow, the wind chill will be -44C.
