Made for Something Greater: Trip to the Holy Land - Beliefs Shattered
http://elsplitter.blogspot.com/2015/01/trip-to-holy-land-beliefs-shattered.html
Made for Something Greater. Friday, January 30, 2015. Trip to the Holy Land - Beliefs Shattered. There are two conversations that have come up (more than once) this week that center around one of the more challenging aspects of our trip. It's an aspect that is difficult to discuss because it challenges the average perception held by most people in our little corner of the world. The first conversation starts with, "Did you ever feel unsafe? This is the easy conversation. "Nope, never did.". Shut down the...

My theory on the toenail weirdness is that the pull of the tape over the top of the nail affected its ability to grow out normally, which somehow messed with the nail bed and caused it to stop growing altogether. This brings me to the official end of my case study. (Whew. That's a relief! Links to this post.

Made for Something Greater. Thursday, February 5, 2015. Trip to the Holy Land - Shabbat. One of the coolest things we did happened while we were in Jerusalem. The Jewish Sabbath begins Friday evening at sundown, so we joined a local congregation for their Friday Shabbat service. Following the service, our group was divided among the families of the synagogue to go to their homes for their Shabbat meal. And each person then introduced themselves and offered their answer. With twenty-nine people this t...

Made for Something Greater. Tuesday, April 3, 2012. When Good Intentions Meet Grace. If good intentions counted for anything, right now my lawn would be mowed and trimmed, my checkbook balanced, my checklist completed, and I would be in the middle of doing my Bible study. As it is, I just failed the first installment of the answer to last night's prayer for God to change my heart. Failed rather miserably, I might add. But I did all of that. And yes, my puppy is still chained outside because I can't q...

Made for Something Greater. Sunday, January 25, 2015. Trip to the Holy Land. And that is what shaped us the most. We walked where Jesus walked (except not really because with all the ruins we actually walked above. Hope for peace. Hope for a future of Palestinians and Israelis living side-by-side as neighbors and friends. Hope for Palestinian children to one day live in freedom and without fear. What did you learn? What did you experience? What challenged you the most? I hope to make several posts here a...

That is why it is beautiful, because I don't deserve it, yet He hands it to me by the oceanful. He is. Grace, and He cannot be anything less, just as He is. Links to this post. Made for Something Greater. Tuesday, February 14, 2012. The Greatest of These is Love. I finished reading a book tonight. I haven't done that in a long while. Usually when I read, I pick out the Christian make-yourself-a-better-person-and-grow-in-God type books. Or Ted Dekker. And when I finish those books, I always find myself just a little bit changed. Only a little bit, but I've observed that it's those little bits that add up to a changed heart and a new person. It if I did). We admire and praise...

Made for Something Greater: Trip to the Holy Land - Expectations
http://elsplitter.blogspot.com/2015/01/trip-to-holy-land-expectations.html
Made for Something Greater. Sunday, January 25, 2015. Trip to the Holy Land - Expectations. I mentioned in my last post. That our trip to the Holy Land met, didn't meet, and far exceeded my expectations all at the same time. It was everything I thought it would be, yet nothing at all like I imagined, but was way more than I was anticipating. This trip met my expectations because we hit all the major stops relevant to the Old Testament forefathers and to Jesus and His disciples. Subscribe in a reader.

Made for Something Greater: December 2012
http://elsplitter.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Made for Something Greater. Sunday, December 30, 2012. The Greatest of These. Love God, love people. Why do we go to church on Sunday mornings? To worship God. That is our purpose, the very reason for which we are created. Love Him first. Love others second. How do we love others? We become like them. We change ourselves to meet them where they are in hopes of saving even a few. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. 1 Corinthians 9:22. Love God, love people.
