Wherever The Paths May Lead. My continuing fellrunning adventures. Thursday, 19 February 2015. Clinging to the Wreckage of Memories. Back then we sailed on sunlit seas of blue, riding the crest of the wave of hope and optimism in the belief that anything was possible. We surged forward, full of zest and energy, forging our path and guiding others in the same direction. Wherever The Paths May Lead......: I'm Running Free, Yeah, I'm Running Free....

http://whereverthepathsmaylead.blogspot.com/2013/11/im-running-free-yeah-im-running-free.html

Wherever The Paths May Lead. My continuing fellrunning adventures. Tuesday, 12 November 2013. I'm Running Free, Yeah, I'm Running Free. I've just picked up a copy of Boff Whalley's "Run Wild" (about time you may say, and you'd be correct) and have waltzed through the first 10 chapters in no time at all, buoyed to be reading sentiments which closely follow mine. The freedom I'm enjoying in my running right now has re-ignited my love of being out on the hills and, having initially fought against this chang...

Wherever The Paths May Lead. My continuing fellrunning adventures. Friday, 28 February 2014. It’s Not Who I Am, But Sadly It’s Who I’ve Become……. But, of course, there’s a negative aspect to this human facet as well. We generally have a tendency to lapse into sloppy habits and routines and they also can become the norm. We hardly notice or, if we do, we gloss over it in favour of the status quo. Limit time on the internet, filter what I look at. The internet. It provides everything we could ever want...

Wherever The Paths May Lead. My continuing fellrunning adventures. Thursday, 13 September 2012. After a While You Realise, Time Flies. In every way. It flies by as life happens around us. The months fly by, the seasons fly by and, I increasingly find as I get older, the years fly by as well. In seems only a few days ago that I was welcoming in the first shoots of spring, bringing new life to the wood, bursting forth in a panoply of colours and promising a summer of warmth and contentment. One of my "targ...

Wherever The Paths May Lead. My continuing fellrunning adventures. Sunday, 12 January 2014. To Uncertain Futures, We Usher Them Into The Light. I hold your gaze, captivated by your searching, sparkling eyes, which reach deep into my soul, seeking out truths, trying to make some sense of this bright, new world. I cuddle your tiny body and a bond is formed that will remain forever unbroken. All defences are down, raw emotions unfettered and overwhelming love consumes me. What will the future hold? Living l...

Adventures of an aspiring fell runner. Saturday, 13 June 2015. Dovedale Mini Mountain Marathon. Dovedale and the area we'd be running in. I partnered up with Jud, a Glossop Mountain Rescue member and fellow Glossopdale Harrier for this two hour Dovedale Mini Mountain Marathon. It's a familiar format for us, having partnered at the Edale MMM. Jud on a steep climb, still smiling. Searching for a checkpoint with other runners. Off Course Phalarope: June 2012

http://offcoursephalarope.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 27 June 2012. Cragg Vale Fell Race. What a cracking little race. I got stuck in traffic on the way and thought I was going to miss it. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. A mix of tarmac, trails, trods and tussocky bogs and a great downhill finish.and it didn't rain! I managed to get a dip in the river after and the the tea and cakes hit the spot nicely. What a shame I forgot to apply my midge cream; I have an array of red splotches that are going to drive me crazy over the next few days! The first...

If you thought about it, you would lie down". An account of the journey towards my 2010 BG. Monday, 29 March 2010. W/e 28/3/10 – All we need is a little patience. Patience is a virtue apparently. Never one I’ve particularly possessed or been keen on possessing. If I want something, I try to make things happen. “Patience is a virtue” has always seemed to me to be the motto of the “lie back and wait for things to happen” brigade. But patience is just what I’m having to learn at the moment. So he had a look...

If you thought about it, you would lie down". An account of the journey towards my 2010 BG. Tuesday, 17 August 2010. BG Aftermath: And Then It Was Over, And We Took Our Applause. Achieving any long-term goal, such as the BG, inevitably leads to a "challenging" period which can feel a bit empty.physically and emotionally. As expected, for some days after the BG, walking wasn't easy! Mentally, the first couple of days were a massive high. The grin didn't leave my face. To be fair, it rarely has sin...The o...

If you thought about it, you would lie down". An account of the journey towards my 2010 BG. Tuesday, 29 June 2010. W/e 27/6 - I'm Not Singing For the Future, I'm Not Praying for the Past. I've been reading Andy Kirkpatrick's book this last week (thanks for the pressie Kirsten! And he talks a lot about the fear he faces and how, in the end, the fear of NOT doing things and always wishing he had outweighs the fear of doing them. I hope to conjour up some of that feeling ready for the day. Instead, I went a...

It wasn't long before I realised there was no time to waste. There was soul all around me. It wasnt long before we realised. There was no time to waste. And so this week proved to be. Wherever the Need India - Alleviating poverty through sanitation, water and an infrastructure for work

On the face of it the provision of sanitation is just the convenience for somebody to use a toilet, but it is much, much more than that. There are huge privacy, safety and health benefits, and the resulting dignity can mobilise even the poorest of individuals. In tandem with ecological sanitation, water conservation schemes and locally sustainable livelihoods, we do our best to buy local materials from which to construct buildings and to keep our use of environmentally damaging products to a minimum.
