Musings on our muse. The stories behind the songs of Diane Tuiofu and Toni Thomas. Thursday, September 25, 2008. The Power of Music. Or, the music was so beautiful, but the lyrics were trite? Creating lyric-music unity is something Toni and I feel strongly about and try to achieve in our music. Monday, September 22, 2008. The chorus borrows heavily from the words of Orson F. Whitney, because I don't believe anyone could say it better: "You parents of the willful and the wayward! April, 1929 p. 110).

Musings on our muse. The stories behind the songs of Diane Tuiofu and Toni Thomas. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. And Joy Be Mine Abode. A few months ago, our dear friend and Stake Relief Society President, Candance Melville, asked me and Diane to write a song for the Stake Women's Conference that was held in June. We gladly agreed to, know ing that Chieko Okasaki would be the keynote speaker, and because either of us would pretty much do anything that Candie asked us to do! And my arm is doing much better.

Musings on our muse. The stories behind the songs of Diane Tuiofu and Toni Thomas. Sunday, January 23, 2011. Thrust in Your Sickle (SAB). I love the imagery of the scriptures. I love that the Lord has taken abstract principles and related them to every day things we can smell and touch and hold. These metaphors often deal with the routine rhythms of our days- snow as purity, blood as life, chains as ignorance. We know not when the summer shall be past;. Or will you return with empty hands? This song is v...

Musings on our muse. The stories behind the songs of Diane Tuiofu and Toni Thomas. Saturday, October 25, 2008. I have always loved the works of Carl Bloch. His paintings always have a story to tell. When we were decorating our new home (not new anymore- this was nine years ago) I wanted just the right art work in our entry way. I wanted a certain Bloch painting, "Doubtful Thomas." For obvious reasons. Off in the shadows, to the left of the Savior, a disciple is visible, fast asleep. . May Thy Daystar Ris...

Musings on our muse. The stories behind the songs of Diane Tuiofu and Toni Thomas. Sunday, November 9, 2008. They Are Wise Men. Can you imagine the wise men, after traveling for many, many miles, finally reaching the place where Christ was staying? Can you imagine how eagerly they touched his little baby hands, and marveled at the light in the baby eyes? That is the story that They Are Wisemen. We are Wise Men. If Not for Love. The phrase came to me one day, "If not for love, what then? The images in the...
