Whimsy's window

Tuesday 13 January 2009. Wrap me in the silent night. The moonlit winds, the night-blue skies. The night calms me down, soothes me. It doesn't require words or logic or analysis. Just gazing at the night sky while an occasional bat flits across the sky with a screech, and the wind makes the leaves crackle and rustle in the background. I wish there were more stars to be seen; I can just see a single one overhead. So impersonally beautiful, so grand, so terrible. So godlike? Tuesday 18 March 2008. Is proba...

Whimsy's window: June 2007

http://www.whimsyswindow.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Friday 15 June 2007. There's a frequently heard saying. दीवारों के भी कान. होते हैं.". In other words, walls have ears :) When I first heard it, I was of course explained the meaning behind the saying. but say purely as an exercise in imagination. or more precisely, as a "what if." game, let me go beyond giving walls mere ears, let me imbue them with something more. What if walls, or rather buildings were to be actually seen as chroniclers of the events around them? What, I wonder, must have been the tho...

Whimsy's window: Echoes...

http://www.whimsyswindow.blogspot.com/2007/06/echoes.html

Wednesday 6 June 2007. Have you ever met an Echo? Now what sort of a question is this, you might well ask… Isn’t an echo an auditory effect… how can anyone meet an echo? Perhaps you meant to ask have you ever heard one…. I know, I know. They are all valid doubts. But my question still stands. You ever met an Echo? What did it look like to you? As an aside, isn’t it almost wonderful how we draw upon so many sources when we move to beyond “definitions” to “knowledge”? Anyway turning back to Echoes, an Echo...

Whimsy's window: August 2007

http://www.whimsyswindow.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Thursday 2 August 2007. It drizzled mist this morning. In fact drizzled. Is probably a little too strong, since it implies that the drops actually fell :) These tiny droplets on the other hand paid almost the bare minimum courtesy to gravity! They floated, swirled and generally made merry with the wind. :) It gradually intensified into a drizzle by the end of the hour of course, but it was delightful while it lasted. Till the next time. Finding Nemo: August 2007

http://beingnc.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

You don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can only decide how you're going to live. Now. Friday, 24 August 2007. Life’s been crazy these past few weeks – that has become my standard response to all the “How are you doing? 8221; queries flung at me by friends and acquaintances. Somehow, this time, this semester seems different from all the others gone by. This one seems special. A foreboding of times to come? Human nature, maybe. Just a passing thought… . Melting Pot: March 2010

http://dark-marauder.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

I came, I saw, I learnt. Sunday, March 28, 2010. The Sixth Day (Part 1). A few hours later, as they were sitting in the coffee house – he could not take his eyes off her. Days had turned into months, and months into years, but she had not changed – her banter was still lively and her smile still possessed the power to set his heart racing, again and again and again. He was looking for words to make conversation. 8220;You seem to have a moustache”,. What am I saying? She stood up and left. I asked God, "M...

Melting Pot: November 2010

http://dark-marauder.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

I came, I saw, I learnt. Sunday, November 7, 2010. Three Fat Ladies with Purses (Part 3). 8220;I’m so glad to finally meet you. You are more beautiful than I had imagined you to be”. This was what Pat wanted to say. Instead, he said – “Ahem. Grrr. Ahem”. Or something to that effect. 8220;This place is quite boring. Don’t you think? Patricia looked intently at Pat when saying these words. The words and the stare were singularly potent enough to unnerve Pat. The combination, was lethal. Pat glanced at Patr...

He uttered, shifting his glance from the doorman cleaning the entrance door to her. 8220;Was that a compliment? She asked, bemused. 8220;Did it sound like one? There was a momentary silence. And then, both of them burst into laughter, on a joke that only the two of them could understand. But then, did it need to be understood by someone else? 8220;I jus...

I came, I saw, I learnt. Saturday, June 12, 2010. Three Fat Ladies With Purses (Part 2). Before Pat could comprehend the sudden and strange gesture, Professor Darlington had already made himself comfortable on the opposite seat, placed a glittering silver box on the table, taken a cigar out of it, lit it, pursed it between his lips, pocketed the box and even made a perfectly circular ring of smoke. Perhaps, it was the ring that blew Pat’s top. 8220;Who the hell are you? Pat sniggered. He smiled. A waiter...

Don’t worry. It’s not that I’ve taken a fascination for Akshay Kumar’s latest dud at the box office. It is just that I have no better words to sum up the ethos of the past three and a half months of my life in the capital of the world -. You don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can only decide how you're going to live. Now. Friday, 9 October 2009. It made me think, made me think about things I hadn’t thought about in a long long time. But what a refreshing change! Hmmm, i didnt really get the bridge to. but indeed! The books back then had an incredible bounty of imagination and imagery - the famous five, the faraway tree, the secret mountain/sea etc series, asterix, tintin, the three investigators.WOW!

WhimsySwan | paddle & glide

WhimsySwan paddle and glide. Sunday, 18 September 2016. Don't sell your soul. I used to have a girlfriend who commented to me, "You're being too nice, you're dumb ass". And others were telling, "Be nice to others, just do your part and be nice to others". Both of them are on top of their career in what they are doing. I was contemplating on which advise to follow, sometimes ended up questioning myself - over thinking syndrome. When you realised that were being kept out of the information loop or lacking ...

Opinions on current events, pop culture, computer games, and anything else that strikes the fancy of a liberal Christian, World of Warcraft addicted, genuine girl geek. Tuesday, July 05, 2005. I was fortunate enough to see Howl's Moving Castle. A few weeks ago, and although I've seen several other movies since, I have to admit that director Hayao Miyazaki's latest work continues to haunt me. Like most of Miyazaki's work, it is lush, vibrant, magical, and familiar. Like his last work, Spirited Away.

Monday, January 5, 2015. An Interview with Karen Kaufman Orloff. When I decided to start up my Whimsy Talks blog again, and had to decide who to interview first, the very talented Karen Kaufman Orloff was an obvious choice. Besides her talent, she is also a humble, caring lady who always supports struggling authors around her. She is an example of how to remain graceful while being such a big success in your field. It is refreshing. Q )- How old were you when you started writing? Dreamed of being a writer.
