And so I begin. Finally took a little initiative and booked a couple of appointments and a walk with a friend for Friday. Glad to see the hills from the window today after a clear evening yesterday. Makes a change after all the rain. Have my head down in my book of Christian Apologetics. Nearly finished it. Interesting and with some good ideas. It has made a huge difference to the light around their house. Jen popped round.they have been away a lot and I have seen her very little. And I cut the grass!

And so I begin. Friday was a shocker of a day.continuous rain.miserable. Had hoped to have a walk out with a friend, but had coffee instead up here. Still Caroline appeared at the door in the evening and we managed a good walk in the splashy lanes, which was good. The farmers knew, of course, and the tractors had been out in force on Thursday cutting the grass, working til late. Schools are out soon.all the grandchildren seem to have had good reports, and Joe got a distinction in the Maths Olympiad!

And so I begin. 27 Jul, 2016. What a quiet, still day it has been today. I am alone, and the neighbours are away. But I did hear a curlew as I was gardening this afternoon, and the sheep panting! The garden is blossoming. So glad it wasn't all over when I got home from holiday. The Viburnum is Full of bridal white blossom, and the azaleas add their deep, vibrant colour. There are irises on the cusp, and I picked a small bunch of gloriously scented sweet peas. We didn't do shopping together! 28 May, 2016.

There will be three stages totalling 5 miles of swimming, in some of Britain’s most beautiful inland waters. But today I am so glad of our lovely GP who spent an hour or so with us this morning and to the hospice and Royal Preston who both phoned with a date for Richard to have a scan and possibly some liquid drained from the stomach.
