Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great. Musings about Food, Booze, Music and other Miscellanea. Thursday, February 25, 2010. Of the young United States of America. I have been a whiskey drinker for most of my adult life, and it would stand to reason that I would have at least tried rye in the last 15 years or so. But I never did, starting at Bourbon, then Irish, then on to Scotches.I seemed to leap over the whiskey of my ancestral homeland. Once said - "Not enough OOOOOOO's in smooth".*. But the best wil...

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great: August 2009

http://whiskeyandsteak.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great. Musings about Food, Booze, Music and other Miscellanea. Sunday, August 16, 2009. My favorite Virginia Winery is Barboursville Vineyards. They have the best wine, and (in my humble opinion) the nicest tasting room in the area. I would put the vineyard up against any that I have been to (and I have been to a TON of them), here or in Napa. They also have a restaurant there called ' Palladio. And I have wanted to go there for years. International Talk Like a Pirate Day?

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great. Musings about Food, Booze, Music and other Miscellanea. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Nothing Rhymes with Frittata *. I took this opportunity to try something new. I have been meaning to make Frittatas for years now, but have never quite gotten around to it. Are they"too close to a omelet? Or is it "Too close to a quiche? I took the basic recipe from here. A recipe tweaked from the wonderful Smitten Kitchen. So will I make Fritattas again? Links to this post. Let's...

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great: July 2009

http://whiskeyandsteak.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great. Musings about Food, Booze, Music and other Miscellanea. Wednesday, July 1, 2009. I just returned from a business trip. I went to Erie PA to do some computer geek stuff and made a couple of pit stops along the way. I had a very nice visit yesterday with my In-Laws, who were very gracious hosts. Knowing of my abiding love for malted beverages, they took me to the North Country Brewing Company. The Pennsylvania Macaroni Company. What did I find waiting for me? So dinn...

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great: A day on the Mighty James River

http://whiskeyandsteak.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-on-mighty-james-river.html

Whiskey and Steak and Everything Great. Musings about Food, Booze, Music and other Miscellanea. Sunday, September 20, 2009. A day on the Mighty James River. I love the James River. We set off early in the morning, loading the boats on my Jeep and leaving before 8 AM. Eagles were not the only wildlife we saw on the trip. We saw an Osprey and lots of fish, mostly Catfish, Bass, and even a couple of Longnose Gar. September 20, 2009 at 9:36 PM. I bet your arms are tired :). September 20, 2009 at 10:49 PM.

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Do they know it's still Christmas? Well, we're winding down 2013 and I'm *finally* putting this year's edition of A Very Micah Christmas. Maybe But Epiphany isn't until January 6th, so you still have a few days of guilt-free enjoyment. I put all of the songs into a Spotify playlist - well, all that were available on the service - and you can stream it below:. But that's only part of the story. The full experience includes the following songs:. 2 "Silent Night" - Nick Lowe.

Friday, January 30, 2015. I'm creeping up on it being one year since I started doing this stupid running thing and I guess it's going to stick. Figuring it was about time that I got my first pair of professionally-fitted shoes, I headed to Lucky Foot. To get an analysis. It turns out that my feet collapse inward as I run, setting off a chain reaction of stress in my knee and hip. That explains the pain! After the snow melted I took my new shoes out for their inaugural run and. I don't know. I wen...Maybe...

Micah, please!: Money can be exchanged for goods and services!

http://www.micahplease.com/2015/05/money-can-be-exchanged-for-goods-and.html

Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Money can be exchanged for goods and services! Summer is fast approaching - honestly, it feels like it's already here - and I figured that I should make a few fun and kicky tweaks to cope with the climbing temperatures. So I temporarily unfroze my personal spending freeze and hit up eBay. A hair past a freckle. First I dropped less than $2 on this Chinese knock-off Fitbit Flex band. You get what you pay for, but it has held up for a week and counting. So far, so good! I need to c...

Micah, please!: "And the Oscar goes to... Nicolas Cage's hairpiece!"

http://www.micahplease.com/2015/02/and-oscar-goes-to-nicolas-cages.html

Sunday, February 22, 2015. And the Oscar goes to. Nicolas Cage's hairpiece! Ah, Oscar night. The glitz! The sitting around in elastic-waist pants and typing out snarky commentary in real time! Yes, this is our time to shine, ladies and germs. Though I'll no doubt be thinking to myself mid-ceremony "I delayed watching The Walking Dead. The true-ish story of the military's most deadly gunman ( Boyhood. The tale of a tough but inspiring drumming instructor ( Birdman: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

Micah, please!: I'm only streaming

http://www.micahplease.com/2015/06/im-only-streaming.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. I can't sleep to music. Well, that's not true. I can't sleep to music that is uptempo or has vocals. The rest? Fair game. My favorite album to drift away to dreamland to is Jason Falkner's exquisite Bedtime with the Beatles. FYI: Volume One is much, much better than Volume Two.) But sometimes you just need a little more variety, you know? So last month I created a playlist in Spotify that's chock full of instrumental lullaby versions of pop, rock, hip-hop, and alternative songs:.

Tuesday, March 10, 2015. I still can't wait. So my first professionally-fit pair of running shoes. That I got in January? Luckily I was still within the return window and took them back to Lucky Foot. I tried on four more pairs, no repeats from my last fitting there. Three of them were stability shoes, one was neutral. I'll go back to the store and try the neutral Sauconys I tried on. Labels: running is dumb. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A man for all seasons. Especially autumn. View my complete profile.

Monday, May 27, 2013. Too big to fail. You know what I discovered? I really like depriving myself of things. It's fun. Very monastic.". Well, bikini season is here and if I ever want to cozy up to a woman that can really fill one out, changes need to be made. (Oh yeah, there's also the health and fitting-into-my-clothes things, too.) So henceforth I'm going to be tracking my daily caloric intake and step up my exercise regimen. I already religiously log the music. I listen to, places. Too big to fail.

Sunday, March 02, 2014. And the Oscar goes to. Grown Ups 2! It's time once again for that glitzy Hollywood circle jerk commonly called the Oscars. As I have no DVR, I have a painful conflict: this airs at the same time as The Walking Dead. Do I watch a horrifying portrait of an eroding society controlled by a mass of decaying ghouls? Or do I watch my zombie stories? I guess I'll tune in to the silly awards show. Who will take home the top prize? I haven't seen any. Flick sweeps the night. And the Oscar g...

Friday, July 03, 2015. Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. Every summer I try to read an epic-length book. Several weeks ago I decided this year I'd give Gone With the Wind. A try when I was done with my current book. ( From Russia With Love. Well, I'm a couple of chapters in and find it to be a beautifully written work, painting a vivid picture of the South through words. Did that version ever exist? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
