A blog for the novice whiskey enthusiast. George Dickel 14 Year Old Hand Selected Barrel Review. My wife knows the way to my heart. This past Valentine’s Day my wife Carly bought me a bottle of 14 year old George Dickel Tennessee Whisky. It is a hand-selected barrel from Dorignac’s, a local New Orleans-area grocery store. I really enjoyed the 9 year old George Dickel. I received as part of the Dickel Dozen blogger program, so my expectations for the 14 year old Dickel were pretty high. For “everyda...

Rittenhouse Rye Whisky Review | Adventures In Whiskey
https://adventuresinwhiskey.com/2015/05/13/rittenhouse-rye-whisky
A blog for the novice whiskey enthusiast. Rittenhouse Rye Whisky Review. On the nose, I get sharp rye spice, butterscotch, honey, cinnamon and a little rubbing alcohol. The rye spice is still evident in the palate, followed by some sweet caramel and floral honey. The higher proof provides a bit of a kick with some cayenne pepper and sweet cinnamon. There’s a long warm, sweet cinnamon finish. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). May 13, 2015. Notify me ...

George T. Stagg Bourbon Whiskey (2014) Review | Adventures In Whiskey
https://adventuresinwhiskey.com/2014/09/11/george-t-stagg-bourbon-whiskey-2014
A blog for the novice whiskey enthusiast. George T. Stagg Bourbon Whiskey (2014) Review. And these five whiskies are no exception. This year’s George T. Stagg was distilled in 1998, making it 16 years old. It comes to us “uncut and unfiltered” at a hearty 138.1 proof. If you’re used to only drinking 80 or 90 proof bourbon, this number looks astronomical. The strongest Stagg release was back in 1997, which saw a 144.8 proof bourbon. Yikes!
