It took five leveling pads to get the motor home level on the passenger side. Also, this site was obviously designed before RVs had slide outs. Saturday, August 15, 2015. On the Road to Vega State Park. Even though the drive only took 3 hours, it seemed like worlds away. We drove beside the mile-long fields of sweet corn near Olathe, and were suddenly in the barren desert. Friday, August 14, 2015. We extended our stay at Ridgway State Park because we were enjoying the area so much; and it didn’t hurt that we had great cell phone and internet signal at our camping site. Sunday, August 16, 2015. The Grandeur of Grand Mesa. We had never heard of the Grand Mesa before arriving in this part of Colorado, but this is the world’s largest flat top mountain. We took this picture on the mesa, and for the first time we don’t have any mountains poking up above it. That's because this mountain doesn't come to a point- it's 40 miles wide at the top.
