Mary Ann lives on the Herefordshire borders, where she makes her individually designed pots. She originally trained as a Graphic Designer specialising in 3D Illustration at Norwich School of Art and later at the University of Central England. In her early career she worked at Emu Wools as a knitting pattern designer. In 1988 she reached the finals of the BBC 'Clothes Show' Knitting Competition. Her interests include: wood carving, puppetry, papier mache, photography and gardening.

Whitbourne Estate is a privately owned family estate located on the Herefordshire and Worcestershire border. It has been owned and run by the Evans family since 1860. These days it plays host to a commercial pheasant shoot, award winning ancient semi-natural woodland, arable and livestock farms, Longlands Care Farm, cottages, a restaurant and various leisure activities. The current Estate Manager Joe Evans took over day to day management from his father Bill in late 2011.
