One man's wanderings backpacking around Scotland plus the odd digression. With cabin fever rising thought it was time to get out for a bit of a yomp. The forecast across the tops wasn’t promising,. SW veering W, 35mph increasing 50mph by pm, locally 60mph. Risk of gusts increasing 70mph…….snow showers…. So I thought I’d keep it fairly low level to avoid the worst of it. 8211; 20km, 530m ascent. No route finding issues with the first bit. Quite a pleasant start wandering up through birch forest to Balmore.

I finally arrived at Lochaillort 6:30pm on the last bus from Fort William, find a campsite or beer? Day 1 Friday 25km ascent 1290m. Saturday, 18 July 2015. A trip to Skye to bag my last island munro and the into Fisherfield Oct 2012. About 10 mins after this it started to rain followed by sleet then snow. Sgurr Alasdair across the way. That dam stone chute. Third attempt to get here,with a guide.all failed to even set off due to weather,but not this time. After starting off under cloud the rain,sleet and snow.it didnt turn out to bad. The fabled Inn Pinn. Us on the way up. Canna , i think. A stunning approach path. Ben Alder July 15.

On top of muckle cairn, dont quote me but I think thats the general direction of Broad Cairn, another of the White Mounth munros. Fairly easy walking heading down to the Lee plantation.

Aye that was a major decision right enough, so, both it was then with heaps of coffee and fresh orange to boot. Still a decent skelp of snow about up high.
