We can provide healthy food options for hungry children over the weekends and school breaks. Children shouldn’t have to fend for themselves, that’s where we come in. The Backpack Assistance Program provides the Whitefish Friday Food Bags to hungry children at the end of their school weeks. With plans to expand this vision of a healthy food option for kids, your help would be greatly appreciated. 144 a year feeds one child. 720 a year feeds five children. 1440 a year feeds ten children. The vision of the Backpack Assistance Program (BAP) is:. We foresee a day when our schools have adequately nourished students who can focus on the subject at hand, not where their next meal is coming from. A future goal of the program will include learning proper nutrition and how to select, purchase, prepare, and serve healthy meals. Local farmers will explain the benefits of using locally grown fruits and vegetables, and how to start their own little victory garden.
