So last week i took another small step (among many) toward opening/owning/operating my own coffee and espresso bar. i captured the internet domain name for the company name i want. THE BROWN COFFEE COMPANY. Cart before the horse? Maybe sure, the name hasn't been registered for business with the secretary of state. yes, i have yet to get money for the thing. and of course, naturally, i have no actual web site up yet. Only a hack would use an electric roaster.". When you're serious about roasting you'll get a gas/propane roaster.". Master roasters use master tools.". Style points say nothing about what's within. Yugo sure beat...

I love that "bottomless" portafilter. it really gives you all the guts and glory of true espresso. one minor element missing or even slightly askew and you will. This is my world.

Extracting the full flavor of coffee talk. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. So i asked a question at an online coffee forum i haunt that i thought i'd posit here. what is the future of the specialty coffee industry? More to the point, what product or small set of products, or small but significant mind shift is taking place right now in the industry that will reverberate and echo deafeningly, defining this industry in the five, ten, twenty years to come? Here are my humble submissions, in no particlar order.
