Grab/hold his little feet. Purposefully grab things that are in front of him and put them in his mouth (he leaves nothing to chance). Roll from his front to his back. Roll from his back to his front. Make very throaty YELLING noises (but not crying or upset). Get his toes in his mouth while holding them.

Well it looks like all of my obsessing has 'paid off', sort of, since I have finagled a way for Archie and I to go on the Barenaked Ladies Ships and Dip cruise to Jamaica and Grand Cayman! They climbed up with no harnaces, made the poles sway back and forth a bit, then they swapped poles and each of them slid down, firefighter style. The clown, of course, slid down head first.
