Water Power! – Fingle Woods

A partnership between the Woodland Trust and the National Trust. The River Teign is ideal for water power. It has a steep gradient as it flows past the castle, which means a good head of water can be generated even over a short distance. This basically means lots of free power! The turbines ran from the late 20’s right up until they were decommissioned in the 90’s after one developed a fault. At the time it was cheaper to get connected to the mains than repair the turbine. A partnership between the Woodland Trust and the National Trust. Life on Otter Rock. Life on Otter Rock. After a quiet summer, the otters are back on the river Teign. Bankside cameras were set up in April and recorded a regular visitor to Otter Rock. During June, July, August and September the cameras have been triggered by deer, birds, squirrels, a few humans and lots of dogs, but very few otters. Clear for Take Off.
