Whitney's School Blog

Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Two ideas I Liked from other Presentations. I really like the idea about creating a powerpoint for symmetry. I think it is a great way to show students symmetrical and nonsymmetrical examples. I think that it would be neat to have students create their own symmetrical and nonsymmetrical powerpoints. I really liked the idea of using Google earth to show historical sights. I think it is fun to have students look at their own homes as well. Monday, April 13, 2009. I learned that it ...

Whitney's School Blog: January 2009

http://www.whitneysschoolblog.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 27, 2009. The Tech Savvy Teacher. We had a great time this week in our sixth grade science class! In our experimental work, we used Stellarium to "identify patterns in the change of the moon.” We went through the month of January and observed the change of appearance each night as the moon went through its different phases. This is a fascinating and efficient way to teach the phases of the moon. The moon can be observed during classroom time and can be seen clearly. If everybody is strug...

Monday, April 13, 2009. Fellow El Ed Project Presentations. After looking at my peers slideshows I noticed that technology can be integrated into all subjects- science, math, reading, writing, etc. Technology is really a powerful tool to use in any subject matter we teach in schools. In mnay lessons technology really does enhance the lesson. I was able to get some great ideas of how to integrate technology into my lessons. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Whitney's School Blog: February 2009

http://www.whitneysschoolblog.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 26, 2009. I can use cognitive apprenticeship in my 2-D geometry lesson plan. I will be the expert and guide my students toward gaining knowledge about the different geometry symbols. Students will first observe me using my body to demonstrate the different geometry symbols. We will then do it together and I will coach, provide feedback, and give reminders about the different symbols we are demonstrating through our body movements. They have to create movements on their own. Some tools ...

Sarah Speirs: Internet Safety "Reading"

http://itotheptothet.blogspot.com/2009/04/internet-safety-reading.html

Thursday, April 16, 2009. What article did you choose to read for your fourth article? I chose to read an article by Mario Hipol called "Fighting Internet Filth.". What were the most important things you learned from the readings? One of the main messages I got was that the internet can be very good or bad. We need to make sure that we are only using the internet and media as a whole, for good purposes. We are seeking after things of "good report.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Whitney's Sweet Creations

Thursday, October 1, 2009. This was a new adventure for me too! I had never really done a carved cake covered in fondant before. The story behind these cow cakes is that the bride raises black angus cattle and the groom raises hereford cattle. So rather than having just plain sheet cakes to make up for more servings of cake, they decided to have a little bit more creative flare to serve their guests. Congratulations to my cousin Cameron and his new wife Ali. What a fun time we all had at your wedding!
