Whitton Farms

Homegrown goodness in the Delta! Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Week 2 of Whitton Farms CSA! Getting our hands dirty! FINALLY, the ground is drying out and planting has commenced once more! We couldn't be happier! We are getting all kinds of goodies in the ground this week like more squash, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, hydrangeas, huckleberries, tomatoes, artichokes, beans, sunflowers, melons, and lots of herbs! We can't wait to showcase them this fall. Many plants already have little tomatoes set on the vine!

Whitton Farms: Playing catch up y'all

http://whittonfarms.blogspot.com/2010/12/playing-catch-up-yall.html

Homegrown goodness in the Delta! Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Playing catch up y'all. I've been wanting to get back to writing, so here we are. Keith and I have been in a working frenzy for the last few months. This past summer we experienced our most difficult growing season ever. Hot temperatures, little rain, and the fact that we were trying to open a business(Trolley Stop Market) in Downtown Memphis didn't make it any easier. We had envisioned our store, not really based on anything other than the mar...

Homegrown goodness in the Delta! Monday, May 18, 2009. We've got a party going on out here, or dare I say a FEASTIVAL! Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 1:00 - 7:00 pm for . The 1st Annual Whitton Farms Feastival. Come out to the farm for a feast for the senses! See, smell, taste, touch, and hear what farm life has to offer, even if its just for a day! Keith and I have commitments from 10 Memphis chefs, 3 regional artists, and a great band to come out to the farm and work their magic!

Homegrown goodness in the Delta! Thursday, May 13, 2010. Things are really taking off! The Trolley Stop Market is set to open next week, hopefully. We still have a couple inspections to pass(keep you fingers crossed) and lots of tidying up to do, but we've got a wonderfully talented staff hired and some good food to serve from our little restaurant - JillBilly's. Next is the one and only Jeremy Denno. Jeremy is fresh out of Vermont and is a master when it comes to piling high on a pizza pie! Well gotta w...

Long Tall Animals: give me that old fashioned morphine

http://longtallanimals.blogspot.com/2009/09/give-me-that-old-fashioned-morphine.html

I'm Just Sayin's, All. Friday, September 18, 2009. Give me that old fashioned morphine. It is raining in Memphis and it has been all week. We go through a monsoon at least once a season it seems, which is generally OK. I remember the draught that threatened to dry up my mom's spring in 2007, and as a daughter of the rural South, I know that rain is a good thing, but this dump of precipitation is threatening the Cooper Young festival tomorrow. So for now, I say "RAIN! Labels: the deepdark future. It is in...

Ok, I was looking at Ye Olde Google Analytics today and had to share this new collection of search terms entered that brought people to this blog. First we've got the classics:. Animals pussy breast milk sex video. Then it gets personal:. Then there's your random WTF shit:. Look hot for high school reunion. Orphans at christmas early hallmark. Smokey mountian kin vol 3. grits and gourmet: July 2009

http://gritsandgourmet.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 28, 2009. Wow it's been over a month since I posted anything here! It's kind of hard to think of some of the exceptional food we've eaten in the past month while Nick is loudly reading. Green Eggs and Ham. To Bella, but I'll try. Bella's saying lots of new words: "squash," "okra," "peach," "peas," "chowchow" (eaten with the peas), "flowers," and "rain" are just a few. We're working on "tomato." Can you tell what we've been eating (and growing)lately? Grilled peach and mozzarella salad.

grits and gourmet: March 2009

http://gritsandgourmet.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Saturday, March 21, 2009. Nothing fancy, just mashed potatoes with a little garlic and roasted red pepper puree stirred in. The sauteed spinach is a Barefoot Contessa recipe that's been one of our favorites for a long time. I realized after we finished eating that I forgot to add garlic to both vegetables, but they were still delicious! Friday, March 13, 2009. I'm supposed to be cleaning, but feel inspired to menu-plan. Gotta go with inspiration! T: zucchini pancakes, salad.

grits and gourmet: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner

http://gritsandgourmet.blogspot.com/2009/05/breakfast-lunch-dinner.html

Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm so proud of myself- I prepared 3 meals today, and all were delicious! I just realized, though, that we've consumed a lot of dairy today. Breakfast was fresh strawberries with whipped cream and granola (okay, so Nick made the granola last night), drizzled with honey. Lunch was grilled pimiento cheese sandwiches, inspired by the one I ate at Early Girl in Asheville. (I love my bread machine! Supper was shrimp pesto penne. Whitton Flower and Produce.

Let's start from the beginning. Saturday, January 16, 2010. My kid is high on psuedoepherine - within two minutes he stated. Dad I found your shoes - you have LOTS of shoes - I found all your shirts - you have LOTS of shirts, I am watching you get dressed - I thought you were going to wear these shoes with the strings". Is there a growly gus in here? What color are my feet? They are brown - no - they are not very much color - never mind they are just feet". Mum do you have a nest for me?

Mediocre Musings: May 2008

http://lifeandtimesofgandj.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 19, 2008. White River, Elkins to Goshen. Paddled the White on Saturday. It was a pretty nice float, the water is still high. In a couple months it may not be passable unless you want to portage half of it. No thanks. Apparently we weren't the first group to take that float as someone had built a rock formation on an island and scrawled "Welcome to Penis Island" on a big flat rock. The whole trip was about 5 hours. Lots of wide, deep pools to paddle through and not a lot of current.

Saturday, January 31, 2009. From Moosewood Restaurant New Classics. View it in the Moosewood recipes archive:. Http:/ www.moosewoodrestaurant.com/. Friday, January 30, 2009. Why I want a Viking gas range. Okay, I guess it doesn't. To be a Viking. but a gas stove would have been a godsend. We spent the first half of the week in Benton to attend Nick's grandad's funeral. Food highlight- McClard's barbecue! Moosewood Restaurant New Classics. Serves 4-6 prep: 15 mins bake: 20-30 mins. 3/4 c dry white wine.
