http://jeffbromley.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips. HOCKEY - KOOTENAY STYLE. Saturday, February 22, 2014. Despite injuries/illness, Ice keep on rolling. Coming off their 4th straight win last night in the shootout over Spokane. The Kootenay Ice continue their hot streak started since the turn of the calendar and the January 10 deadline. Somebody suggested Philp had the 'McGill flu' (team suspension) last night but usually they announce when team discipline has been issued. Perhaps he was just sick. 4 The Ice are 14-2-1 since the ...

Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips: A better late than never look at next season

Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips. HOCKEY - KOOTENAY STYLE. Saturday, April 18, 2015. A better late than never look at next season. Okay, time stops for no man or for no team but for what it's worth, here's a look at the Kootenay Ice for next year. He's never made any bones about his style being, for lack of a better word(s), 'old school'. He was a task-master and some believe that isn't conducive to today's junior player. I don't buy it but next year's club will be younger, much younger. 7 So who makes the cut?

Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips: Deadline came and went with a whimper; Ice stop 4-game losing skid
http://jeffbromley.blogspot.com/2015/01/deadline-came-and-went-with-whimper-ice.html
Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips. HOCKEY - KOOTENAY STYLE. Saturday, January 17, 2015. Deadline came and went with a whimper; Ice stop 4-game losing skid. For a team that may have been worried about losing two of their top players to the World Juniors and if they would stay in the playoff hunt without them, getting them back has been more of a challenge than anyone thought, losing four straight since Reinhart returned with the gold medal and Valiev returned with the silver, and missing three games due to illness.

Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips: December 2014
http://jeffbromley.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips. HOCKEY - KOOTENAY STYLE. Monday, December 29, 2014. Season Turnaround complete as deadline nears. With the club's streak to the .500 mark complete and back in the race for a playoff spot following a 3-13 start to the season, the trick as they lost captain Sam Reinhart and top D-man Rinat Valiev to Team Canada and Team Russia, respectively, at the World Junior Championship, would be to at least roll a .500 record in the 8-games without Reinhart (6 w/o Valiev). 4 The addition of L...

Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips. HOCKEY - KOOTENAY STYLE. Friday, October 31, 2014. Reinhart's Back - Will it make the difference? And they are looking up. 1 The Buffalo Sabres sent back F Sam Reinhart, 2nd overall pick in the NHL Draft in June, to the Kootenay Ice following a 9-game stint in the NHL with the even more hapless Sabres. Reinhart recorded 1 assist in 9 games and was a minus-1 averaging 10:21 of ice-time per game. 3 Now, what does this do for the Ice and their line-up? Descheneau - Reinhart - Bozon.

Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips: June 2015
http://jeffbromley.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Jeff Bromley's Ice Chips. HOCKEY - KOOTENAY STYLE. Saturday, June 6, 2015. Kootenay's future takes center stage. In a rather sudden but to be expected expose, Cranbrook Daily Townsman sportswriter Taylor Rocca sat down with WHL Commissioner Ron Robison last week. Robison did not pull any punches in his assessment of the support of the Kootenay Ice. That story is at the bottom of this blog post. The exterior link is behind a paywall, so I'll post it here. New sound system for WFP. Bottom rows of WFP: make...

It's been a month since the last blog as this get's a little hectic to keep up on a consistent basis, but as we head down the stretch into the Spring and the WHL Playoffs. 2 The Ice, with three straight shoot-out games - 2 wins and a loss - improved to 33-27-1-2 on the season with 69 points, seven clear of the Edmonton Oil Kings. 6 Of course a playoff berth isn't assured as of this point but the...
