Tainted Dreams of Misery: August 2005

Tainted Dreams of Misery. Saturday, August 20, 2005. James' Laws of the Road (Part I). People that drive SUVs can't. The amount of traffic is directly equal to the equation of the number of actual open lanes multiplied by the inability of people to merge added to the number of SUVs on the road divided by the number of fender-benders everyone is looking at. If you lack the capacity to talk on your cell phone and watch television then you lack the capacity to talk on your cell phone and drive. Don't drink ...

DG's Rants: February 2006
http://dgrants.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 07, 2006. Left vs. Right vs. Who Really Cares? George W. Bush. What hasn’t been written or said about the man? We all pretty much know he’s the President of the United States of America and that he recently won re-election to the White House, without any question regarding his victory. We also know that despite his re-election- by just 3% over the very weak Democratic nominee Senator John Kerry- Bush has managed to polarize not just the US but also of the world. Links to this post.

Tuesday, April 25, 2006. The Greatest Game Ever Played. Montreal 6, Carolina 5 (20T). Wow What a wild one that one was. We stuck with the same plan, we kept believing, Canadiens centre Mike Ribeiro told ESPN. It was a great game to watch, I’m sure, for everyone. Posted by Vicendum at 4/25/2006 05:48:00 AM. It seems only fitting that Italy’s fourth World Cup triumph comes as a result of penalty kicks. Did Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan really dive in the penalty area or did Brazil’s Juan, who indicated to the referee that it was Gyan’s second yellow card, trip the attacker? Was Brazil’s Ronaldo really overweight to start the tournament, and why di...

Monday, April 23, 2007. The only thing that is left is the Coppa Italia against Roma in May, but for Inter fans, that prize will just be a bonus. The real prize was won this weekend, capping off a season that may never be repeated in Italy. Will this be another period of Inter domination not seen since Le Grande Inter? Time may tell, but this year’s team certainly played like it. Posted by Vicendum at 4/23/2007 04:27:00 AM. Links to this post. Thursday, April 19, 2007. Brad May solves the fighting debate.

Sunday, November 25, 2007. DG's Quick Hits- November 25, 2007. Even though the officials weren’t supposed to review what would become Phil Dawson’s game-tying field goal for the Cleveland Browns against the Baltimore Ravens, I’m glad they did. It’s better they get it right instead of let a technicality potentially rob a team of a game. So, then, what’s the point of telling coaches they can’t challenge late in the game? Forget them actually involving trades- if teams know they can get players for free (as...

Tuesday, October 30, 2007. DG’s Quick Hits October 29, 2007. RED SOX WIN SECOND SERIES IN FOUR YEARS. SO MUCH FOR THE STANDARD. In any case, the message the NHL is sending is clear- it doesn’t care about violence. Otherwise, it’d crack down hard on it, not lessen up simply because too many hockey people (who took too many hits themselves it seems) whine about how there’s no hitting left in the game . If the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts will be playing each other to determine who gets to st...

DG's Rants: March 2006
http://dgrants.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 12, 2006. Toronto loses another one. Today marked the funeral of Scarborough native Kevin Persaud, run down and killed last Monday near Canmore Park where Persaud was at a friend's house. The Toronto Police believe that Persaud was pursued by his attackers- whose relationship to Persaud, as of yet, is not known- and killed following an altercation that night. An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, both males, have been charged with the attack. Posted by Vicendum at 3/12/2006 11:38:00 PM. Where H...
