"Further Up and Further In!": November 2013
http://annesfastlife.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Further Up and Further In! Monday, November 25, 2013. Here We Go Again. I wrote my last post on the first of November about one holiday. Now it's the end of November, and I write this evening about another holiday. I know - I do it every year. I don't mean to beat a dead horse here, except that it's far from a dead one. My kids are confronted with this horse repeatedly this time of year, year after year. To say, "Do you intend to give her a candy cane or not? How could you possibly know? It's done. N...

"Further Up and Further In!": What We're Reading
http://annesfastlife.blogspot.com/2014/10/what-were-reading.html
Further Up and Further In! Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Here's a glimpse of what we're currently reading:. The picture book basket is always full, and the contents are somewhat different each week. But these are a couple of Scarlett's favorites. I love introducing the Beatrix Potter book to each child, and I get a thrill every time I read about the "soporific effect" of lettuces on young rabbits. Sums it up quite well. The Unwind series. And here are some more of our library books for school. The notec...

Further Up and Further In! Thursday, September 26, 2013. One Really Rough Day. OR, the post you should read if you want to feel better about your day.OR.the post you should definitely not read if you are considering homeschooling. Work of school in half a day? As if he thought this was really going to happen. Another - or maybe it was the same one - observed, "Why does it seem like math and music is all we ever do? Shouted one of the boys. "Scarlett just dropped a light bulb." I went to asses the...I tho...

"Further Up and Further In!": October 2013
http://annesfastlife.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Further Up and Further In! Friday, October 18, 2013. I was at a La Leche League. Yesterday's shower was a great example of just how easy it is, in fact. I was in the bathroom for maybe a minute, when the first knock sounded on the door. I'm in the bathroom," I said automatically. Whatever it is can wait, right? One would think. But it was one of the boys announcing that a package we had been waiting for had arrived. I assured him I would take care of it when I got out. I'm in the BATHROOM! Or more like 1...

"Further Up and Further In!": A Little Wednesday Night Action
http://annesfastlife.blogspot.com/2014/11/a-little-wednesday-night-action.html
Further Up and Further In! Thursday, November 6, 2014. A Little Wednesday Night Action. Last night on the way to church, I asked the kids about anything new or interesting they had learned that day. Chase "didn't learn anything," so I reminded him that we had learned more about verbs (exciting, I know! But I persisted, "Sure you do! You like to talk about action verbs, anyway. What are some action verbs? Silence, but then Ryan offered for him, "Run! So I guess he is. Learning, after all.

"Further Up and Further In!": July 2014
http://annesfastlife.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Further Up and Further In! Sunday, July 27, 2014. And then.I really. My school room is drowing in last year's stuff, because we didn't do what I thought we should have, and maybe I should try to catch us up, have that grammar book finished, do a more thorough evaluation of those papers I don't have to time to look through. Perhaps, too, the anxieties and fears boxed up in all the nooks and crannies will diminsh, too. Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Another Quizzing Post - Sort Of. I think I said that already.

Further Up and Further In! Monday, January 20, 2014. Adding Up the Cost. Four cars made the four hour trip from the Dayton area to Pittsburgh. One car made an eight hour trip from South Carolina! Nine or ten hotel rooms were secured. Our church paid the cost of registration for three teams. 23 Chick-fil-A catered lunches were purchased, plus numerous snacks and drinks for quizzers throughout the weekend. Twenty-two of us splurged on dinner at Buca di Beppo following the tournament. Was it worth it? It's ...
