DAY 22: Getting to our Sydney 747 was a very slow process (queued for over an hour at check-in), because an Auckland flight had been cancelled and all those passengers were added to our flight. The flight was particularly smooth and included breakfast and a Magnum! DAY 23: First an Explorer harbour cruise on a very fast catamaran. DAY 16: We started the day in Balboa Park having decided against the Wild Animal Park, partly on cost (58 dollars) and partly because we could do that at Longleat! We made it without hassle and discovered, beyond a large military area, a stunning clifftop park called Cobrilla Point. Then off to Fiji the Saab plane that was to take us to Los Angeles was small and noisy!

Peter and Teresa Go Global. We also spotted what at first looked like one of the clouds raining, but slowly became clear that it was smoke rising from an Australian bush fire. At the airport we walked into particularly hot and humid air, but the hotel chauffeur was ready with limousine, free scented freshen-up flannels and cold bottled water. We were whisked across the city (reaching 150kms/hr on the way) they drive on the left!

DAY 18: We spent the 10 hour night flight kipping on and off as best we could, crossing the dateline and flying through midnight meant that we went to sleep on Tuesday 29th and woke on Thursday 1st! Growing around us. Flower heads are used as decoration everywhere (even on the toilet cistern and in the off-beach foot-bath). Room service enters our bure and turns down the bed while we are being entertained.
