Also, getting into Highlander fanfic has been fun in the sense that I have re-encountered other fans I used to know from other fandoms and that I had forgotten were around. I just read a real, published book that was written by a fictional character from a tv series and the book's main character was a fictional version of another fictional character of said tv series. And then this fictional author thanked the actor that played him in the acknowledgements.
