The BUG progresses
http://blog.hsbne.org/post/121151000729/the-bug-progresses
The BUG got well underway this weekend, with a mammoth effort from our effigy crew. Visitors to the yard will notice the pile of pallets that arrived last week has become a slightly more artistic pile of pallets, accompanied by a somewhat disturbing detached hexagonal head. As an Irishman, i’d like to offer my personal thanks to the Queen for giving us a three day weekend. If anyone is keen to get involved or contribute an idea, please come along - we’ll be hitting it hard again this weekend!

The HackerSpace is about collaboration and part of that collaboration is sharing knowledge. Members of the HackerSpace hold classes on subjects that they have a particular interest in. The class can be of any level from beginner to advanced and could be a practical guide (e.g. setting up your first Arduino) or a demonstration of an advanced topic that you are working on (e.g. motion control algorithms). The classes will be hosted at the HackerSpace and run at a time that suites the presenter.

Here’s a project one of our members has been working on - a Self-balancing Electric Unicycle. It’s as fun to ride as it looks! You can see it in person during the Engineers Australia Electric Vehicle Exhibition on Thursday 8th of August, from lunchtime onwards at Reddacliff Place (at the end of Queen St Mall, opposite the Treasury Casino, by the big balls). http://blog.hsbne.org/post/120652191289/so-the-effigy-crew-will-be-rolling-their-sleeves
The effigy crew will be rolling their sleeves up this weekend and cracking into a large wooden sculpture of a butterfly. The piece is set to be transported to the Numinbah Valley next month and set ablaze amidst a flurry of ecstatic dancing and ritualised (pallet) sacrifice, at Queensland’s very humble answer to Burning Man - Modifyre ( http:/ modifyre.com/. Provisional start time on Saturday will be 12 midday. But feel free to come along at any point over the weekend. Tweet about this post.
