It’s a Wonderful World . . . | Life at a Boarding Stable
https://stablewoman.wordpress.com/2015/08/07/its-a-wonderful-world
Life at a Boarding Stable. Just another WordPress.com weblog. It’s a Wonderful World . . . It’s true; the world is full of wonders, great and small. Just look at these clouds from a couple of days ago . . . I wish the sun would cooperate by setting over a more picturesque area of the ranch. On the small side, here’s a miniature rose. It’s no bigger than my fingernail. And I’ve always had a soft spot for the little jumping spiders, like this one. He is tiny; that’s a flyspeck next to him. Address never ma...

Fire to the East | Life at a Boarding Stable
https://stablewoman.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/fire-to-the-east
Life at a Boarding Stable. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Fire to the East. Granddaughter Christina called yesterday to say there was a fire on the Hines property, just to the east of us. Billy told her to call the fire department at once, and I got him into his pickup to see what was going on. I could see that yes, there was certainly a fire. Boarder Jennifer had gone over to see how bad it was — I always get to stay by the phone — and this is what she saw. As it was, it was merely ugly and unpleasa...

Life at a Boarding Stable. Just another WordPress.com weblog. I’ve been putting off writing this blog entry, both because it was painful and because I wanted to see how things were going to come out. I think it’s time now. Now, better than a week later, Jennifer still has both legs, but after multiple surgeries, it’s looking like a long hard road to recovery. She’s getting a lot of moral support from her many friends here. It’s looking like she may be transferred back to KMC soo...I was worrying that Pea...

Hawk in Distress | Life at a Boarding Stable
https://stablewoman.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/hawk-in-distress
Life at a Boarding Stable. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Yesterday, a boarder came to tell us that there was an injured hawk down on the road to the tunnel. When I went down there to look, this is what I found. At first, I thought it was paralyzed, but it became apparent that it was in shock, but able to move. Its problem was that its tail was almost entirely missing — only a little stub left of what should have been a long, elegant tail. Posted August 10, 2015 by stablewoman. 2 responses to “.

Riding Upriver | Life at a Boarding Stable
https://stablewoman.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/riding-upriver
Life at a Boarding Stable. Just another WordPress.com weblog. First, breaking news; granddaughter Christina has a new baby daughter. Little — well, not so. Little — Isabella weighed eight pounds, seven ounces. Mother, daughter, and big sister Liliana are doing well. Updates to follow. You’ll have to take my word for it; there is water under the water hyacinth and buttercups and six-foot high cattails. Farther east, we came upon actual open water. Between Kitty’s Ears | Life at a Boarding Stable
https://stablewoman.wordpress.com/2015/08/05/between-kittys-ears
Life at a Boarding Stable. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Between Kitty’s Ears. The place was aswarm with little girls, most of them related. I was trying to catch one in this shot, but missed her. I did get Billy going by in his white pickup, in the background. Here’s another one, going by with her little bay horse, with Xena and Peaches being sure they got in the picture. It felt really good to be back on a horse. I hope the weather, and my duties, let me do it more often! In Around the Ranch.
