Wilcoxen fam: April 2013

http://www.wilcoxen.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Our journey as a family. Monday, April 8, 2013. DIY: washing the windows. A couple weeks later, it was still bothering Andy so he decided to take matters into his own hands. And I was worried. The 16th floor, remember? He headed to B&Q for supplies. B&Q is China's version of Home Depot. Strangely enough, their logo is quite similar. But I should not have been (too) worried. he had a plan. Is anyone who knows my husband surprised by this? Mind you, I was still worried. This was the part that worried me.

Wilcoxen fam: October 2013

http://www.wilcoxen.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Our journey as a family. Saturday, October 19, 2013. Playing hooky (aka Field Trip). But now that our weather is absolutely beautiful, we are reaping the benefits of starting early. All week I had been pondering taking the day off on Friday. The weather promised to be good so Friday I declared it to be an adventure day and that no school would happen that day. I gave the kids two options at breakfast (a garden or a boat ride), we voted, and set off for exploring. Though the scarf only made it midway thro...

Our journey as a family. Monday, June 24, 2013. A week of breakfast. After a couple months of trial and error, I have figured out our weekly breakfast menu. This is the day that I take off. We eat leftovers from the weekend or have cereal (meaning oatmeal or granola). Honey Oatmeal bread with peanut butter. Or cream cheese. Or jam. Really even just plain because it is so good. Fruit bars and smoothies. My personal favorite is a green smoothie with strawberries and spinach. Links to this post. This is pro...

Wilcoxen fam: November 2012

http://www.wilcoxen.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Our journey as a family. Tuesday, November 27, 2012. One of those days. I know that it didn't help that we had several workmen in our house fixing various things. I think the noise and distraction were getting to us both. She was even getting frustrated with her siblings. Finally, we just called an end to the day. I told her, "B, I love you but for some reason right now we are not working well together. Can we just start again tomorrow? And most of all, I am thankful that tomorrow is a new day. She was w...

Livin' la vida Hoke-a: February 2012

http://hokefamily.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Livin' la vida Hoke-a. Ramblings from a Midwest Mom. Monday, February 13, 2012. Jenni's "Wicked Good" Clam Chowdah. and yes folks, it has BACON! In college, I babysat for a family for several years. The woman had so many wonderful cookbooks, and when the kids would nap, I would look through them and drool. So instead of drooling each week, I started taking index cards with me and got some of these great recipes down on paper! Over the years, I've tweaked this "chowdah" recipe until it suited our family.

Livin' la vida Hoke-a: Boys will be boys...

http://hokefamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/boys-will-be-boys.html

Livin' la vida Hoke-a. Ramblings from a Midwest Mom. Thursday, April 23, 2015. Boys will be boys. This isn't going to be the "boys will be stinky boys" post that you might expect. This one has a little twist. I picked her up, we ran (okay, drove) all over the greater Hamilton County area, got our errands done, giggled, caught up (because it had been forever. It had been a day, and he's my one and only that can talk me through some specific things…and I needed him to do that. So we texted, and h...Thing 1...

Livin' la vida Hoke-a. Ramblings from a Midwest Mom. Monday, January 23, 2012. The power of girlfriends. On any given scale, cannot be measured. EVER. I had an action-packed girls weekend this past weekend. And man, was it ever needed. It had been much too long since I had spent quality time with these girls. And I was so lucky - I got to split my weekend between two sets of precious friends. My husband was all about me multi-tasking/killing two birds with one stone. Yay! But throw sleet/ice into the mix...

Livin' la vida Hoke-a. Ramblings from a Midwest Mom. Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Wow, it's really been a while! So ya, it's evident that I've been pretty lax with blogging. Seems like I go in spurts, but I'm chalking that up to being a busy mom of 2 kids with busy schedules and the fact that I'm their shuttle service! The biggest thing that's happened over the past year is that I was officially diagnosed with (severe) fibromyalgia. I encourage you to click on this link. I had a family member tell me that do...

Livin' la vida Hoke-a. Ramblings from a Midwest Mom. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. I have a blogging friend who shares pictures every Wednesday with the title "Wondering on Wednesday". She always finds funny things going on around her house and snaps a picture. I decided to borrow that title today. This morning when I was opening up the curtains in Thing 2's room, I happened to look out the window to find this. Is there a handprint outside of his window? Was he trying to escape? Berry Bliz: July 2014

http://berrybliz.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Best in the land. Back when we used to grow a garden we always had lots of zucchini squash this time of year. AND that meant only one thing. Honey would make zucchini bread. This summer time treat soon became one of Karlie's favorites. And since she doesn't have too many favorite foods we do like to oblige her when she does have something she enjoys to eat. The other day, someone sent us some from her garden. Karlie got that look in her eye. Combine in a bowl. 1/2 t baking powder.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Upon examination at the hospital, it was determined that his liver was NOT, in fact, enlarged. The cardiologists believe he has costochondritis, an inflammation where the ribs connect to the sternum. A few days of ibuprofen and he should be good to go. It's not dangerous, it just hurts. His EKG was normal, well, ok, "normal" for him. My explanation- God healed him. Is it a cut and dry healing? No Could either of the doctors have been wrong? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Berry Bliz: Traveling the city like tourists...

http://berrybliz.blogspot.com/2015/02/traveling-city-like-tourists.html

Sunday, February 1, 2015. Traveling the city like tourists. Today after church we decided to travel the city like tourists and to take lots of photos. Where's my sandals and tube socks? Wait it's winter and it was raining so my hubby drove slow through the city streets as we all looked up at the tall buildings and snapped photos from the comfort of the car. Today started the month long daily photo challenge.I needed some photos and more specifically I needed a photo that screamed winter. What a neat idea!

I've felt that out of control feeling may times through out life. But I'll have to be up front with you I used to dodge the sovereignty of God thing, crazy I know, but I didn't understand it. Now, years later I can appreciate and cling to God's sovereignty. He is in control! Links to this post. Tuesday, May 13, 2014. End of the year program.
