Wednesday, 23 July 2014. Autism and developmental delay in our genetic makeup. Ever since my son was diagnosed with Autism and Developmental delay you can't help but wonder if it was something I did that was bad, and if the rumours about thing such as vaccinations were true. Maybe there's something wrong with my genetic makeup, or my husband's. Maybe. Said that duplications in the 15q11-13 segments were associated with autism, especially if the duplications were on the maternal side of the chromosome.

Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Kids gardening - Vegepod. They provide superior growth-rates due to the complete growing system. Unlike traditional raised garden beds the Vegepods give you complete control over the soil which means any nutrients you add are utilised by your plants only. The self-watering reservoir holds up to 64 litres providing all the moisture your plants require – from below! The covers protect your plants from animals, pests and bugs and damaging weather. Here they are at about 2 weeks...

Wednesday, 28 August 2013. Post baby bloat - The 5:2 diet. I've felt a little on the pudgy side lately. Pants are getting tight and the kilos are creeping on, and I'm getting older so I thought about whether I should go on a diet or not, and have decided that I will. I've never really dieted before and exercise is a lifestyle thing - I did try to do it regularly but I just am too lazy. I need something I can maintain. And what about rice? It was a good idea, but I wasn't sure if I could stick to it.

Sparrow(gal)'s Fart: Ghan Holiday Day 7-8 - The Ghan
http://sparrowgalfart.blogspot.com/2015/06/ghan-holiday-day-7-8-ghan.html
Friday, 12 June 2015. Ghan Holiday Day 7-8 - The Ghan. After we checked out of our hotel we went to the Olive Pink Botanic Garden and some more cool birdlife and even some kangaroos. A Western Bowerbird with the distinctive purple tuft on the back of his head was on the road and his bower was not far away. Then it was time to make our way to the legendary Ghan! At night they even folded down the sheets for us and the kids each got a Ghan teddy as a free gift! At night we hopped off the train for a bonfir...

Sunday, 22 March 2015. My Easter Hat ideas. When I saw pictures of hats, I saw lots of people had used premade materials to use hats, like those party top hats you can buy at the $2 shop, or straw hats. Which is fine, but I think it's a bit boring. I wanted to make a hat from scratch, using what I had at home. All the things were easily found around the house, and I was quite pleased with using some of those useless twist ties for something - whiskers was a great idea! Just to make it a look a bit more e...

Wednesday, 27 May 2015. Ghan Holiday Day 5-6 - Alice Springs and West Macdonnell ranges. It was a long drive to Alice Springs from Kings Canyon! Fortunately we were distracted by various birds of prey on the drive and iPads are sanity savers. We drove through the West MacDonnell park and checked out the various waterholes along the way. We saw a great variety of birds and I THOUGHT I saw a Major Mitchell cockatoo but without a photo to back up my claim, I might as well NOT have seen it. Ghan Holiday Day ...

Wednesday, 22 January 2014. New additions to the family. They are both blue hoods, with imperfect pale markings on their heads - my daughter named one Diamond, and the other I named Tyrael Tyrael has a large white patch on her head whereas Diamond's pale patch is much smaller and less noticeable. I will go do more research on toilet training rats! Monday, 13 January 2014. Frozen - WARNING Spoilers! Anna now understands why her sister has been so isolated and with an ice farmer, Kristoff, she goes to find...

Friday, 12 June 2015. Ghan Holiday Day 9-11 - Adelaide. We arrived in Adelaide and wandered down Rundle street in the afternoon, and ending up eating a noodle place which was quite decent. I also wonder, why there are coins embedded in the footpath. Adelaide zoo sounded like a fun family place to visit and we walked there - phew, it seemed likea longer walk then we thought! That's not a tawny Frogmouth! THIS is a tawny Frogmouth! A trip to Haighs was in order too and we got to eat lots of chocolate on th...

Friday, 25 October 2013. Speech progress for my son. It's been more than 6 months since I started Speech Therapy for my son - how is he now? In a nutshell - much improved! He has finally understood the concept of colour. He can do 3 colours, though probably with about 90% accuracy. I should start introducing more colours! His question concepts are better. He says "Where Mama? And even says "What's that noise? He has also learned to say "Mama, may I have X please? Tuesday, 22 October 2013. Trying to expla...
