Thoughts and more about Susanville and the surrounding area. The Antelope Complex burned about 23,000 acres in July of 2007. It smoked out the greater Susanville area. We live with fire around here. Late summer lightning storms coming rambling through striking the mountains surrounding the communities. Life in the woods is safe as long as you have defensible space and are willing to take the time to prepare before the fire rolls through. More than likely your house will be safe if you are prepared.
