Wednesday, 30 July 2014. I sowed these about April. Now, thanks to the pond that I'm digging and a bit of compost from the shop (for the top) I finally filled in these big boxes so I can plant out the leeks. They were ready to move on, you can see the pots were filling up with roots:. Posted by Purple Veg. Saturday, 26 July 2014. Visiting butterflies on the budleia. purple veg: Pond
http://purplevegetables.blogspot.com/2015/01/pond.html
Saturday, 17 January 2015. We woke up this morning to a little bit of snowfall, and I like the way it's falling on the frozen pond surface:. Making it took a few weeks of digging last summer. I started by marking out the shape, it doesn't show in the photo but the ground slopes down quite a bit so it took a while to find a curve that fitted:. It's about half a metre at the deepest point. At the downhill end I dug a separate pit for a bog garden, so that when the water overflows it falls into the bog:.

April 21, 2012. It’s been a busy time here at Belaugh. Christmas and New Year happily celebrated with family and friends and then filming (and editing) a few winter weddings (which you can read all about on Alice Barker Images. This is when the internet is so wonderful! Sat warmly indoors well away from inclement English weather, I crawled this remarkable tool looking for wildlife plants specialists. I particularly liked The Wildflower Shop. By Jan Miller-Klein and The Bee Garden. Some info about me.

Caught In The Act. April 29, 2012. I think I mentioned a few days ago that we have the odd visit of a Muntjac or two in our garden. They’ve always been fleeting visits with little time for me to grab the camera and take a photograph but yesterday, luck was with us as we spied him the other side of our lake nibbling away on the young green shoots on our Weeping Willows. Some Sad and Some Better News. April 28, 2012. April 21, 2012. This is when the internet is so wonderful! Where I found exactly what I wa...

Thursday, 13 August 2015. Summer bedding 2015: the reckoning. So, my pots have been planted with summer bedding for about two months now and are generally looking very good, but here is an analysis of what has worked best and what hasn't. Hopefully I'll remember to read this next year while replanting! The shadier pot by the door has done really well. These are almost the only targetes that haven't dried out or been eaten by slugs. The other plants are petunias, cineraria and helychrum petiolare. But the...
