After unexpectedly heavy rainfall in northern Pakistan in July 2013, a flash flood tore through the Kalash Valley destroying much in its wake. The worst flooding in 60 years hit the north Indian state of Kashmir in September 2014 leaving more than 250 casualties and making millions homeless. In October 2012 a huge cyclone hit Orissa in India’s east, displacing hundreds of thousands of people and leaving much havoc in its wake.
