Penelope's Garden: March 2010
http://mamagarden.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 29, 2010. When a mama has a posse. That mama runs fast. Reasons running with the kids (as they bike) is fun:. 1 It's so cool to have a pace team. Go, mama! Seriously: people got out of our way. We were a force of nature. I doubt it was righteous fear on their part as much as healthy self-preservation, but I so rarely get a chance menace the general walking public.). Your hands are supposed to be like this [hands unclenched] when you sprint! All on display. Usually I come home from a run...

Penelope's Garden: Merry Christmas!
http://mamagarden.blogspot.com/2010/12/merry-christmas.html
Saturday, December 25, 2010. In lieu of a Christmas card (which I have yet again not written .) I dug up a few favorite photos from this year to put here. It is bittersweet to get so many cards in the mail, from faithful friends and family who don't get return cards from us - such pleasure at being remembered, and at being able to catch up a bit with growing kids and various adventures, but so! Things I might have written, had I sent such a card:. So thanks for the friendship and patience, sorry about th...

Penelope's Garden: February 2011
http://mamagarden.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 2, 2011. We're not in Nicaragua anymore. The joyful oversharing of my tropical travel photos is thus interrupted with this news bulletin: baby, it's cold out there. (This is the view from my fourth-floor office window of the parking lot and its huge mountain of snow.). One of my students approached me with a somewhat mournful reworking of our trip-long saying, "We're not in Nebraska anymore! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Were not in Nicaragua anymore. Penelope's Garden: In which we join the crane migration.
http://mamagarden.blogspot.com/2011/04/in-which-we-join-crane-migration.html
Wednesday, April 13, 2011. In which we join the crane migration. Our actual crane photos were not all that impressive, but our small party was unworried by rain or travel time or distance from our intended quarry. We were cheerful and ate cookies and listened to good music in the car. Some of us posed for pictures, some not, and generally a fine time was had by all. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Penelope's Garden: September 2009
http://mamagarden.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 26, 2009. We are hawkish outliers. We attended our second Hawk Festival today, and although there was a Boy Scout whose mother is a member of the local raptor rescue group who was clearly well-versed in things hawklike, it is safe to say: we were the only family sporting a much-loved toy perigrine falcon, plus a hand-made, custom-ordered pink perigrine falcon tshirt. (There were many, many raptor tshirts, but not on children, and not pink.). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Penelope's Garden: January 2010
http://mamagarden.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 2, 2010. We eat cake, because someone is nine. (! So Grace is nine, and that's just almost more than we can bear around here. Nine. It must mean that we are - you know, old. Our aging aside, she had a nice birthday, with lots of calls from her loved ones and two kinds of ice cream and a movie at the theater and, as requested, her favorite chocolate cake. Next week is her party with her friends from school, some cupcakes to share with her classmates, and then it's business as usual again.

Thursday, December 31, 2009. We Christmas, and then we post-Christmas. So how cute are my sweethearts, in their Christmas duds? We missed church (cancelled due to Midwest weather) but dressed for dinner anyway. Peter is quite the stylish guy these days, and Grace - always lovely in the Christmas dress of the year. Tuesday, December 22, 2009. That Nana of ours? Chooses some awesome hats. Grace and I are now Warm Ear Twins. Saturday, December 19, 2009. Our week in gingerbread. I noticed that many a kinderg...
