http://www.wildrootsalaska.blogspot.com/2014/02/we-rang-in-new-year.html

Deepening our roots in the wilds of Alaska:. We rang in the new year. With a new web browser that actually let's me post on the blog (finally! Back east, where I grew up, fireworks happened to commemorate Independence Day. Here in Fairbanks, Independence Day coincides with Fire Season, so we celebrate the New Year with fireworks.). Spinning and music making. Is it too late to wish you all a Happy Year of the Horse? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to : WiLd: rOOts: ALaSkA:. Where do I begin?

::WiLd::rOOts::ALaSkA::: Children of the Boreal: Michaelmas 2013

http://www.wildrootsalaska.blogspot.com/2013/10/children-of-boreal-michaelmas-2013.html

Deepening our roots in the wilds of Alaska:. Children of the Boreal: Michaelmas 2013. For the past several years, our Homeschool Co-op, Children of the Boreal, has gathered together to celebrate Michaelmas. This is one of our most elaborate and time-intensive festivals, and a lot of heart and work go into the preparations. For the month preceeding the event, there is much emailing and phone calling and meeting and planning and creating! While the parents set up. Present within the beauty surrounding me.

::WiLd::rOOts::ALaSkA::: Farewell, Old Friend...

http://www.wildrootsalaska.blogspot.com/2013/10/farewell-old-friend.html

Deepening our roots in the wilds of Alaska:. Farewell, Old Friend. Creamer's Field hosted their first-ever First Friday event entitled "In Celebration of the Tree" featuring tree-themed art, which also offered people a chance to say good-bye to the tree. There are also plans through Friends of Creamer's Field. And the Boreal House. Before we arrived at the tree, I told the kids a beautiful story written by Steve (a dad from our Children of the Boreal Homeschool Co-op) which was inspired by the tree.

Deepening our roots in the wilds of Alaska:. I read back over those words, wondering what to entitle this post, and it seems as thought it should have some Spring-y title, doesn't it? Yet it is October in the Interior.and not just any old October, but the near-end of October. Where is Jack Frost? Where is King Winter? Where is the Crystal Queen? It is so strange! I told the kids that if this weather holds out, they are going to experience weather on Hallow's Eve like I did as a kid in Ohio! We stayed snu...

::WiLd::rOOts::ALaSkA::: More January Re-cap

http://www.wildrootsalaska.blogspot.com/2014/02/more-january-re-cap.html

Deepening our roots in the wilds of Alaska:. Really, I'm not sure who reads these posts. But one person I do know who keeps up on them all is my dad. I don't know if I have anything poignant to say or any profound impact to make with this blog, other than to share with my dad what his daughter, son-in-law and grand kids do from day to day. So, dad, this is for you! Warm enough for snow people. And snow people whose heads melted off! Is some pretty warm January weather! Hope everyone's January was warm an...

A journal of our day to day; homesteading and homeschooling in the Land of the Midnight Sun. Thursday, May 15, 2014. Recess (for the goat kids). We have been having such a busy spring with all the goat kids, a new puppy, garden work and finishing the official home-school year, that we still have a couple doelings without names. But here they are. I'll bet you can tell who my favorite is, as she tends to be front and center whenever I'm in the goat pen. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

August 21, 2014. Another garden clean-up done! This one was a lot of fun, of course we did the usual weeding and pruning of existing plants to bring them back to health but we also put in a few more plants to make the front of the home a little more welcoming. We used low maintenance and deer resistant perennials to add color and seasonal interest to the garden. We also put together two large pots to liven up the trellis. Rarr; Leave a comment.
