Analysis of samples from 11 species of sharks found in Belize revealed high levels of methyl mercury, a potent neurotoxin. From January to April 2014, Western Australia’s State Government will carry out a shark cull in response to the latest shark fatality. According to the State Government’s media statement about the shark cull. There will be up to 72 drum lines deployed in stages over the January to April period, at an estimated cost of $1 million. Media outlets have also questioned the measure.
