Turning to other pages. November 17, 2011. In most of Western Europe, Halloween is a four-day weekend. In Italy, they celebrate All Saints’ Day, and the Day of the Dead. Since I had a few days off of class, I decided this was a perfect opportunity to visit a friend in Paris. I flew into Paris on Sunday, and spent two and a half days with a friend who is studying with USAC in Pau. It wasn’t until he left that I realized that I was suddenly in over my head. I also had a burning desire to see the Alesia.

It seems like I’ve hardly done anything to prepare for this trip: I know no Italian; I know almost nothing about the town I’ll be staying in; and I only just got a guidebook yesterday (thanks Kat! But then I look back on all the stuff I actually have done, maybe it just seems like I should be doing more for a months-long trip out of the country.

Sunday, December 18, 2011. Yesterday, after our final French exam, Stephanie’s family flew in from Ohio. So we spent the evening making a few new friends. Today was much of the same, with a lot of packing and cleaning interspersed. I move out of my dorm tomorrow, which is kind of a surreal experience. But the other big story of the day is that it’s Stephanie’s 21. Birthday. That’s still a milestone for her, even though she’s been legally allowed to drink in France the entire semester. Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Today I pretty much finished up school by acting out my sketches in the Spectacle. I would have had video for you all (all three of you reading this), but my camera’s battery died just seconds into my first sketch. Apparently I did well, because I’ve heard nothing but how funny my sketches were. I credit the luck of the draw, I just happened to pull the two funniest parts in the whole dang show. I didn’t even have to do much. Yep, she opened everything else but mine.
