クラーク博士といえば 青年よ 大師を抱け という名言を誕生させた人。 というイメージが強くありますよね 今も尚、この言葉は生き続けていますし、博士の銅像が設置されているスポットがあったりと、 これからも忘れてはいけない人 ということが伝わってきますね しかしそれだけで、彼のことを詳しく知らない方がほとんどなのではないでしょうか。 それから ウィリストン神学校 に通い、1844年 アマースト大学 へ入学して、順調に4年後卒業しました。 まだまだ若い20代にして 教授 になれるなんて、本当に天才だったことが分かりますね 教授として、化学を主に教えていましたが、その後 動物学 植物学 を含め、計3つの専門を教えるという大活躍を果たしました。 その後も少しの失敗はありつつも、 マサチューセッツ農科大学 今のマサチューセッツ大学 の第3代学長に就任するまでに昇格したんですよ 3代目にはなっていますが、実際、初代と2代目は開学前に辞任したため、クラーク博士が初代になるんだそう。 クラーク博士の前任者 ホーレス ケフ ロン.
