willswayback: Belated Seasons Greetings

http://www.willswayback.blogspot.com/2008/01/belated-seasons-greetings.html

Wednesday, January 2, 2008. On arrival in Multan the news of Benazir Bhuttos asasination arrived, bugger, we thought what now? The gates of our hotel were locked all the streets were blacked out and the man with the shotgun who manned the entrance seemed a little edgier than usual. We were told to stay in our room as we watched on BBC world as the chaos ensued around Pakistan. We went to sleep that night not sure of anything. January 4, 2008 at 4:53 AM. willswayback: Persia

http://www.willswayback.blogspot.com/2008/01/persia.html

Sunday, January 6, 2008. The photos I am publishing are of Persepolis about 40km from Shiraz where about 2500 years ago Darius and Xerxes used to welcome visiting dignities to their land until Alexander the Great raised it to the ground. It was quite incredible to see and really very inspiring but as i am sure you can tell I will need alot more then this to remove this bitter taste from my mouth. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Home sweet homw.surprisingly. Cycling in Quetta to make our bus.

Things i have noticed lately about your blog: the beard is still in evidence; you give the thumbs-up sign WAY too often; there are too many photos of various skeletons; i haven't seen a photo with you and someone of the female of the species for a very, VERY long time. 82 Turkish Lira (around €50? From Delhi to Dublin: May 2008

http://delhi2dublin.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Friday, 30 May 2008. So there I was cycling out of Mitrovica, my body protesting to the strain, rain pelting down, and not really knowing what awaited me in the next country. I guess you could call it a good day. I camped in a forest that night. Why should I mention that? I crossed the lake (a big one in NE Albania where one can catch a ferry to Tirane [the capital]) by the town of Fierze, which I had passed through before even realising it. That's where the asphalt ended. From Puke to Shkoder the road w...

Wednesday, 30 January 2008. Applied for (and very easily got) 30 day extension for Iran. Cost: IR100,000 (about 8 euro). Bus to Esfahan for a tearful reunion with Sicander (the name i have now christened my bike; but due to a lack of champagne, I merely danced naked round it 3 times whilst waving a burning branch). A thorough washing off of the small amount of rust on my beautiful steed. Drinking tea whilst wishing I was simultaneously smoking a qalyan. Wandering the bazaars of Esfahan. I hope you enjoy ...
