Ordinary Adventures: Reading List
http://jmw556.blogspot.com/p/reading-list.html
Books make their way across the Atlantic in a variety of ways.in care packages, carry-ons and squirreled away in the luggage of new volunteers, but they all end up in the same place; Regional House Libraries. Thanks to generations of bookworm volunteers the Kaolack House has established a pretty formidable book selection. The following is the list of books I've read during my service along with the date completed. A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin (1/8). Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card (2/3).

Cleanliness is Next to Godliness. After the meal. Its tough to teach an old dog new tricks, and despite my best impression of a broken record it has so far been impossible to convince the adults in the village that the cost of a .50 cent bar of soap per month is worth the prevention of diarrhea. That's where the kids come in. Laxad xa bay a paax (. Wash the hands a lot. Bar o wec safu of. Dont forget your soap. Laxadi boo te fax. Wash until they're good. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Some great pictures from my hike up to Laughton Glacier today. Enjoying my first real sunset in months. View from halfway up the mountain, town of Skagway in the valley on the right. Enjoying the July snow near the summit. Nearing the top at 5,000 feet. View from the summit at 10pm, still light as day. Our first suspension bridge. View down our longest line. You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile! Abdou Ba, pre-surgery. Working with Global Smile Foundation in Thies last November. But I couldn't help but wonder what his smile looked like fully healed. Fortunately I was able to find out the name of his village, and when I passed through the region of Tamba yesterday on my way home from Kedougou I decided to go on a scavenger hunt, photo in hand, to see if I could find him. Abdou's family with my new friend Xabi. How could I say no to a Pulaar Ninja? To go ...

No white Christmas this year. Green beans, roast beef, mac. And cheese, baked potatoes, yogurt dip with. Cucumbers and of course, cookies! The worst Christmas gift I received this year was from Senegal itself.a fever, strep throat and an ear infection. I spent much of the day wrapped in a sheet and fighting to stay awake. On the positive side, the Peace Corps gave me one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received.the paperwork and manuals associated with my Close of Service! Remove your faasa from...

Chiquita Banana Bridesmaids (note the wine in a can). Lunch for 40.rice and sheep. Waste not want not. I Mean, MILLET! Old cooking method and new cooking method, side by side. Packing the stove with millet chaff. As I was preparing to leave Sambande, I just couldn't stop thinking about my poor mom having to make that trip out there every week by herself. So when I visited my neighbor Jessica in her town and found out that her sisters cook lunch every day with just one stick. Your sandals. See: Hell.
