It was cloudy for the eclipse, but we enjoyed the sights we saw, especially in the Ufalozi Wild Life Reserve near Port Richards in Natal. Durban from Passenger Terminal. The second day of our stay in Greece we left Athens by bus to tour north of the Gulf of Corinth, prior to boarding MV Marco Polo to cruise the Black Sea and view the Total Eclipse of August 11, 1999. Gerard M. Foley. Travel and Photography Collection. We flew by Egyptair from Luxor to Cairo. and returned to the hotel in which we had stayed on our arrival in Egypt. We visited the Egyptian Museum. With its amazing exhibition of the treasure found in the New Kingdom tomb of King Tutenkhamen. In the Valley of the Kings at Luxor. We also toured the Citadel and the two great Mosques there, the Bazaar and a Coptic Church, said to be the oldest Christian church in the world. Entrance to the Great Mosque.

Gerard M. Foley. Travel and Photography Collection. The small museum at Luxor is a beautiful building for the display of beautiful sculpture. The pieces are from the Middle and New Kingdoms. The displays are quite dramatic, but the lighting is not very bright, making things difficult for the photographer. As in almost all such places, flash is prohibited. Amenhotep III, the subject of the Memnons between the Nile and Deir el Bahri. Probably the father of Akenaten. Another head of Akhenaten.
