About | Winding Words
https://windingwordsblog.wordpress.com/about
My book review place. Books and libraries are some of my favorite things. When I was 6 I bothered my mother to teach me to write my name in cursive just so I could get and use a library card. I’m 62 now and have been reading ever since. My tastes are eclectic with cozy mysteries, romance, Christian, self-help, cookbooks and craft books all in the mix. I have used Goodreads. I found the site NetGalley. You can reach me at windingwordsblog@gmail.com. Some of the NetGalley badges I have earned:. Each member...

My book review place. The New England Orchard Cookbook by Linda Beaulieu. September 5, 2016. What says Fall, but apples! Well, maybe pumpkins, but apples are right up there. Linda Beaulieu has given the apple its due in her The New England Orchard Cookbook. The recipes and there are lots of them look great. They are basically simple recipes, meaning you won’t have to go shopping for a lot of ingredients you don’t normally buy. The instructions also are very easy to follow. My review of: A Portrait of Emi...

My book review place. My review of Cravings By Judy Collins. September 15, 2016. If you have read any of her other biographies, you will immediately notice that much of what she writes concerning her life is just a rehash. For you, the only fresh writings will come from the diet guru sections. And while it is interesting, all can be found with a Google search. If you are interested in Judy Collins and haven’t read anything else she has written, then this will be a good one for you. Enter your comment here.
My review of The Christmas Town by Donna VanLiere | Winding Words

My book review place. My review of The Christmas Town by Donna VanLiere. September 18, 2016. Is a charming holiday story. Lauren Gabriel is a young woman searching for a family after years of foster homes. She bravely or stupidly takes out an ad on Craigslist seeking that family. The only negative I would give would be the way the meeting with Lauren’s mom was handled. Not giving anything away, but it didn’t quite work for me. But when you are dealing with the type of person her mother seemed to ...Fill ...

A Most Reluctant Princess. South of the Border Magic. Moonshine and Epsom Salt. The Smell of Pine. Latest A to Z Post. By Jean M Cogdell. God how’d she get to this point? Her day started simple enough. All she’d done was make one phone call, no big deal, or so she thought. The table littered with used tissues, and tears spilling from her eyes, she reached once more for the Kleenex box. The house was quiet. She’d made too much coffee again; she’d need to remember to make enough for only one. Empty air gre...

Why I Write – jean's writing

A Most Reluctant Princess. South of the Border Magic. Moonshine and Epsom Salt. The Smell of Pine. Latest A to Z Post. I wish, like George Orwell, I could say I’d envisioned myself a writer from an early age. However, as far back as I can remember, I feared putting words to paper. I was the oldest of four when at ten, my father died. Life was hard, but many people had a hard life. That’s a story for another time after all this isn’t a coming-of-age memoir. Why do I write? Why do I write? December 23, 2014.

A Most Reluctant Princess. South of the Border Magic. Moonshine and Epsom Salt. The Smell of Pine. Latest A to Z Post. Moonshine and Epsom Salt. Moonshine and Epsom Salt. By Jean McIntyre Cogdell. I overheard mama talking. When I came in the house; the worry and anger in her voice made me tiptoe to the kitchen doorway. Grandma sat at the table; Mama’s voice stern. Look at your face. I eased back out of sight; something was wrong. Fear reached for my throat when I noticed the tears in Mama’s eyes. Notify ...

A Most Reluctant Princess. South of the Border Magic. Moonshine and Epsom Salt. The Smell of Pine. Latest A to Z Post. The Smell of Pine. The Smell of Pine. I hear the frustration in my daughter’s voice. Not so much as a hello when I answer the ringing phone. Mother, your granddaughters will be the death of me. Elizabeth is the worst, and that smart-mouth of hers will drive me to drink. I tip the phone from my mouth, no point adding fuel to the fire should she hear my laughter. My azaleas sure look nice.
