Valve stem oil seals. There is oil on the plugs and a very rich fuel smell when the car starts up so the assumption is that the valve stem oil seals have gone. Update after a month of ownership. Well this is the car with all the seats except the drivers one removed. This is the old carpet that is being binned. Much healthier little car now. Well now that the manifold is done, the car is running very well indeed. Unfortunately because the car is now so quiet we are hearing all manner of other noises that we haven't heard before!
