The first issue of the Windmill News was released in Sept '04 as a community project. The issue was months in the making and was given out as a free community information pamphlet. The body of the stories and the images were of such high quality that Weblight Studio (Australia) began condensing the magazine and placing parts of it online. Continental Australia generally, chiefly inland areas, accidental to Tasmania. A horse stable used to give their horses a treat by supplying them with grain that had been used to brew beer . The grain lay about in piles at the back of the old Castle Hill Showground just north-west of Sydney. Not long after the grain appeared so did flocks of galahs. Needless to say these birds are among the clowns of nature. On the base of a hollow in a tall tree, lined with green leaves.

DISTRIBUTION: Eastern Australia, from about Cairns, Qld. south to Tasmania and west to about Adelaide, SA. NEST: Cup-shaped, made of twigs, strips of bark and grass, frequently decorated outside with wool (I have noted spiderwebs too); lined with grass and hair; placed in a bush or tree, up to seven metres from the ground. Personal Notes: These Lorikeets are becoming more difficult to find and experts suspect it may be due to the widening range and increased numbers of the Rainbow Lorikeets who share food sources and habitats but are more aggressive. This example was feeding on Molenberg ten-grain bread with two Rainbow Lorikeets. There was no obvious conflict although the Scaley-breasted Lorikeet was running about like a poor cousin at a barbecue trying to get as much as he could before the others. We see that often).
