It’s the time of year when nearly all the seniors have either already chosen the college or university they will attend or will be making their final decision soon. About two weeks ago, one senior sat in my office chatting. Slowly, it emerged that she was a little worried. Did she make the right choice? Wiser Today and Still Learning. Convince Me, Please. So here it goes. My reasons for not assigning daily homework to my junior history students. I can’t really tell if the student’s work is his or her own when they don’t do it in class. Did they copy someone else? Did they get too much help from a parent? And if they did, what purpose does the homework serve? It hasn’t helped them, and it hasn’t served me as a formative assessment that will help me help the students. So what say you? October 9, 2015.

Wiser Today and Still Learning. Practicing What I Preach Is Really, Really Hard. Sometimes by airing our grievances, even when nothing seems to change as a result,. Change. We are able to make adjustments ourselves that make for better results in the future. It is in that spirit that I am writing today. So here are my main criticisms with the new test and its rollout in no particular order. The rollout was flawed. Changes to the test were made.
