I accidentally used a raw floppy copy program and raw copied a floppy onto my hard disk, and it has re-written the hard disk binary and it thinks its a floppy disk as it says it as 1430 something KB etc. is there any fix for this? Thursday, August 31, 2006. Here i s the solution for a Big Beige Box; the solution also takes care of my networked laptop computer. The IDE drive sits in a cartridge which slides into the computer on rails. Kit costs about $15 to $30 depending on store. I slide the drive in and power on the computer, which detects (a) that it is the first boot of the day and (b) that an extra drive is in place, and so initiates an XCOPY of those files which have their archive bit set, and when done powers off the computer.

Backups: July 2006
http://gettingmybackup.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 28, 2006. You aren’t sure whether you should be doing backups? A computer is the metal/plastic device itself PLUS the data recorded on the hard drives. If you are responsible for a computer then you are responsible for both the box AND the data content. If you think that you aren’t responsible, then I challenge you, right now, to reformat the hard drive, as if you’ve just had the computer stolen, and sit back and wait for the recovery process to start.
